Back story: I acquired this gem probably 3 or 4 years ago from some people who had a small horse ranch. The CDI went bad and it had been sitting for a couple years. So, I drug it off for them. I put a new CDI in it and a new ignition (it was hot wired), cleaned the carb, new air filter, spark plug, fluids, etc. It ran pretty decent after that. I never rode recreationally, it was always for hunting, so I wasn’t too concerned as long as it did what I needed. Mostly, it just sits in my garage, so here we are.
New in the last year (throwing parts at a problem without have any electrical knowledge):
Battery
stator
rectifier
Pros:
Runs great when battery is charged (see cons for details)
Trans shifts great
all plastics there, but rough
electric start works
rear brakes work
Cons:
Battery doesn’t charge while riding. Can charge overnight and run until it drains, then runs rough.
Kind of ugly
Front brakes don’t work
Tires old and mis-matched
This would make a great little work horse for one of you guys that knows these quads inside and out. Probably a frayed wire or loose ground or something, I’m sure. Unless one of my new parts was bad from the factory, but I’ll include the old parts with it. I can text video of it running, but I can’t upload it. My number is 918-440-2603. Zach
