For the fluid changes, I bought some AMSoil synthetic ATV engine oil and AMSoil synthetic differential fluid to use in it – spent a good bit more than conventional stuff, but wow! What a difference! Not sure if anyone else here uses AMSoil, but I’m a big believer in the stuff and it didn’t disappoint. I’m telling you folks, there’s a noticeable – very noticeable – difference in the smoothness of the shifting now. Not the clanking like before with the default Honda oil (not saying Honda’s fluids are bad, not at all, just that AMSoil is better). Probably didn’t need to change the differential oil in both axles yet, but I did it anyway since the dealer was doing the first service.
The other notable thing that happened at the dealer was how much they loved the wheels and tires I chose for my Rancher. 🙂 They kept asking me how they worked and said they looked totally awesome. Never saw a dealer so worked up over a set of wheels and tires, but I think they were impressed at how great the Mayhems look on a set of matte black STI beadlocks.
The service went well, and I had a couple other things done. For example, I had the 12V accessory socket installed, which, to me, should be standard equipment on a Rancher, but whatever. Inexpensive addition that will give my cell phone and other gadgets power when I need it on long rides. Plus, if I go deer spotting, having that accessory outlet will be required for my lamp.
Today, I installed my Superwinch Terra 35 all by myself. For someone who is not a gear-head, I was shocked I was able to do it by myself. It works perfect, and all the wiring is neatly tucked, secure, and waterproof. I used the KFI mount for the Rancher (fits perfect with zero modifications required), and I’m very impressed at how well it works. On the rear of the Rancher, I added a KFI Tiger Tail tow rope system to my Curt 2" trailer hitch. We’re ready for the tougher trails now baby! :icon_ rocker:
I’ll get some pics of everything and post them up tonight in this thread. Thanks for all your support guys (and gals, if applicable). For my first ATV, this Rancher is everything I wanted and more, and constantly exceeds my expectations. Amazing machine.
