So i have seen a couple forums on the topic but wanted to make sure i understand the process of diagnosing the problem. So went for a ride the other weekend and a buddy crashed my other can am so I had to tow it out with my other Max. While towing it out the 2013 Can am 1000 Max over heated and went into limp home mode. Now for whatever reason the fan will not turn on and if i let the bike sit within 10 mins it overheats and the fan never kicks on. So from what I have been reading it can either be the fuse/relay, the fan, the thermostat, or the engine coolant temp sensor. So i guess the steps to diagnose would be check the fuses and relay (which i did, they are fine and it still does not kick on). Next I would then plug the new fan i got (the crashed unit needed a new fan) into the Max and see if the fan kicks on, if it does then the problem is the fan. If this still does not work i can hookup a switch to jump the relay (wanted to install a fan override anyway) if that turns the fan on then does this tell me its the sensor or the thermostat? also if this does not work what is the next step in diagnosing the problem ( i saw something on removing the coolant temp sensor and that should kick the fan on, is that a way to tell if its the sensor?) Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
