Engine Stalls at deceleration and idol. Thoughts?

This is the second time this has happened, but many hours and miles between the problem.

2011 RZR XP900 2 seater. 240 hours/3700 miles. New Air filter, no dust in airbox. Fuel tank vent filter is free flowing. Everything is stock.

Rzr was working fine all day doing desert trails, fire roads and hill climbing. Engine temperature never over 200 fans working to spec. Both times were in dusty conditions first time was at Dove Canyon near Mojave, CA. Today was at Stoddard Valley OHV. Air temp was not over 98 F. either day.

Symptons are upon deceleration engine loses power and start backfiring due to engine braking. After coming to a complete stop engine dies. I turn ignition off and back on. After waiting for fuel pump to cycle the engine will start sometimes first time or for sure after second attempt. After restarting if i just sit and let it idol either 1200 rpm or 2500 rpm it will then start stalling again. Depressing accelerator pedal has no effect at this point and engine dies. After restarting if I accelerate and stay on the throttle it works fine. There is no indication of loss of power at all, but if back off throttle it will then start backfiring and no amount of throttle will make it recover. I am able to drive it back to the trailer at which time it dies again. The first time this happened I let it sit for a few hours and tried again in the evening. I was able to drive it a mile or two and then it started acting up again. I parked overnight and in the morning it did not exhibit any of the symptoms and drove fine the whole morning. I took it home at that point and drove it for many hours over the next few months without failure. Today it happened again after riding hard for 2 hours. I just now started it in the garage and it idled fine and showed no signs of the problem. I did not wash or clean anything at this time. Most all of my riding is at altitude over 3000 Feet.

Both times it happened I thought it might be vapor lock so when I opened the fuel cap I did hear a rush of air however I don’t know if it was pressure or vacuum? As I think about it right now on both occasions I was about 1/2 to 3/4 full in the fuel tank. Also there are no codes showing at all.

The only thoughts I have are heat, dust, altitude, dirty sensors, such at TPS, MAP or Idol Air Control Valve.

Please feel free to chime in with thoughts you might have. There is no such thing as bad input/suggestions when it is free. However don’t tell me to remove the fuel cap and replace everything else remaining. LOL

Thanks in advance.
Tod
