Drive shaft u joint stiffness

Doing some maintenance on my 900 xp4 and replaced the two factory u joints on the front prop shaft with all balls crosses. Had to buy whole new rear shaft that came with new slip yoke and OEM u joint preinstalled. The new u joints on the front prop shaft seem stiffer than I would expect. Where the rear shaft u joint has relatively little resistance and will flop around as the shaft is rotated the two new joints on the front shaft hold the yokes at whatever angle I set them and they will not flop around as I rotate the shaft.

I’ve disassembled them once with no change. I’ve set the yokes in a block and tapped on them trying to see if I could better center the u joint with no change. The caps do not appear to be pressed in too far, the retaining clips appear to be set against the surface of the yokes implying the caps are right where they need to be. So…should,I expect new u joints to be stiff (as mentioned earlier the preinstalled OEM one is not) or could this just be the way the all balls joints are.

Anybody have any similar experience with this or advice? Much appreciated.
