Custom built complete exhaust for the 570 Sportsman

I have been thinking about doing this for a while. The stock exhaust on this quad is junk, among other things, but since I have so much money in the thing and am stuck with it, I figured I had better make it the way I want it. Nobody makes a complete exhaust for these yet as far as I can tell. If they do it still uses the stock short head pipe, and attaches from there back still using a crappy doughnut gasket. Which will cause issues if you try wrapping it.

The problems with the stock exhaust are numerous, heat, heat shields rattle/crack, steel pipe rusts when wrapped with header wrap, header wrap helps to keep heat down but cooks doughnut gaskets, causing leaks, which eventually causes you to remove header wrap and replace doughnut gaskets. Then you are back where you started. The stock muffler is very heavy and restrictive.

The exhaust I built is completely made out of stainless steel and only uses one flange that is a V band clamp style. The pipe size is bumped up slightly from 1.6" to 1.75". The only parts I used off the stock exhaust are the flange to the head, which worked out nice because it will fit inside the new stainless pipe. I also cut the 2 hangers off the stock muffler and welded them to the new muffler. I did away with an attachment point where the stock exhaust bolted to the frame using a rubber grommet. My grommet was already hard as a rock from all the heat. By doing away with this attachment point you also help keep vibrations down that are being transferred to the frame of the quad. Now that the system is made from SS it can be wrapped without worrying about rust. Two heat shields are done away with, the one bolted to the pipe itself and the outer shield near the rear fender are gone. Because of the higher flow exhaust and wrapped header they are no longer needed, I did add some DEI fiberglass heat shield tape to the inner part of the rear fender, like what is already stuck to the inside of the right side panel. After riding and testing the quad, heat is way down, power is up, and I am happy. The only issue some may not like is noise. It is louder, but has a good sound to it. Kinda like a sport quad. I made a video but did not get a rev.

If I ever buy a programer, I am sure there is even more power to be had with a tune.
