I’ve been looking to get my first ATV for a while now and I have decided on Polaris. I hadn’t decided on Polaris from research, but rather going to a dealership and test riding a bunch of different brands. Polaris felt the best while riding. Great acceleration, smooth, and the power steering was phenomenal. Anyway, I don’t know if it was a mistake or not going out and driving before doing research. Well, I’m sure you all know where this is going. I’ve read threads and threads on quality issues. I’ve read it depends on how hard you ride it, or what model year you get are depending factors. While speaking with the dealer he did say Polaris is a bit behind with quality, but getting better. He also said ride wise, there is nothing better. I understand that there is only a very brief warranty. I read that there is an extended warranty you can purchase but I haven’t been able to find any real information on what it covered and if it’s even worth it. I also read that dealers are very strict with covering warranty issues, which is fantastic. As the title says, I’m looking to get an end year 2016, or 2017 850sp. I’ll be using it to haul loads of wood from the woods, plow snow in the winter, ride small tame trails in my woods, and occasionally going to places where the trails are harsh. What issues should I expect out of this machine that I haven’t read about. Bushings, ball joints, plastic melting… I was thinking about upgrading all of the problem parts after I buy it so I don’t get stuck anywhere. I’m a little worried about how many issue threads there is on Polaris. I really don’t want to spend 8k on a machine and it turn into a money pit. Anyway, any advice?
