I have been reading everything I can on wheels and tires for my XP1000 Turbo. I am thinking about going with 30x10x14 Tensor Regulators all the way around and the Method 403 non-beadlock wheels. 14×7 (5+2) wheels in front and (4+3) in the rear to keep the front and rear lined up and my width to a minimum. I ride the dunes in the winter on my Scat Track paddles and smoothies but want something for the summer at our cabin in northern Arizona. We are street legal and do have to travel on paved roads quite a bit to get from trail to trail. The Tensors seem to be the best choice for the pavement. I don’t want to use spacers on the rear because I would have to remove the spacers when I put the paddles back on (5+5) offset. Is it worth putting different offsets front and rear for looks and better front rear alignment or is it better to run 5+2 all the way around. Rotating tires is not a issue for me. Thanks for your input. I want to do this right the first time. Thanks!
Looking at getting sand tires for an XPT4. I like the idea of the Delta Fx for mixed sand and desert use, but there isn’t any recent discussion/reviews on them.
Will they perform similar to a traditional sand tire in the dunes?
My riding is sharp high desert rocks, hard pack, fire trails in north AZ
I’m looking at new tires, so I’ve been reading everything I can find to help decide on 28s, 30s, Mongrels, Rage, Tensor, etc. So a few questions……
Almost every manufacturer builds their vehicle with wider tires on the rear. So other than for dune riding, why do people insist on putting the same size all the way around for trail, rocks, hard pack? It seems to me that if it’s better, manufacturers could save weight, cost, etc by doing the same by stocking and installing one size tire.
30s look cooler-no question, but they increase weight requiring clutch work. Is that weight any different from say a 2-seater to a 4-seater. A 2-seater with 30s weighs a hell of a lot less that a loaded up 4-seater with 28s. So is the clutch set up different on a 4-seater than a 2?
