Starter Clutch

I know there are lots of threads talking about the signs and symptoms of a failing one way clutch, but I am wondering if anyone has had any success in refurbishing/resurrecting their own.

The rollers on mine were a bit banged up so I tuned them up a bit with some 320 grit, but no love. The cluch actually stopped working once I added a bunch of Lucas oil to stop the oil burning, but the oil still burns and the clutch now slips…. and YES I drained the lucas oil out of the crank case.

Anyway just hoping someone has had success restoring their one way starter clutch.

Cheers

Oh and BTW my timberwolf is running great with the trimoto stator.

timberwolf Safe rpm ?

Well my timberwolf started lately to make some strange vibration noise at high speed rpm..

Bolt of the exhaust seem tight.

Wont do it at low speed revving like a retard on 1-2 gear in mud…

So i ordered a rpm reader for the spark plug to check out at what rpm it start and im waiting for it…. Should be here between next week and next years….. Ebay ftw

Any idea what is a safe rpm for that old 1992 2wd while wide open in straight line.. Im running brand new 23" Kenda bear claw. Im just affraid that the timing chain blow up ahah

Valve where never ajusted and it do tick loudly a bit. So im probably going to ajust them and report back.

Thank you

Kicks Back Blues

So I just picked up a 92 Timberwolf 250 2wd as a fixer upper, but now that I have undone all the previously screwed up repairs I am stuck on an ignition issue.

There is tons of spark, and the stator and pickup checkout OK. It looks like there is a new ign coil on it. I pulled the flywheel and checked the key, and its fine. Initially I could only use the electric start and suspected a weak starter, but I tuned it up and its working better. Once I got the rewind back together I confirmed that I have a timing issue. Give it a pull and there is severe kickback. It wont start with elec. or rewind.

I suspect the CDI box, but am looking for suggestions that might bail me out of a $200 bill.

Thanks gang

NEED HELP ASAP!!!

1996 timberwolf 250 2×4. New top end, new battery, fresh rebuilt carb, new starter, valves adjusted.
When I try to start it it drags and turns over very slowly. If I take the carb off and put my hand over the intake it turns over normal. i can get it started and it runs perfectly fine. It did this before the rebuild also. What am I missing here? Very frustrating.

top dead center

I need to adjust the valves on my 94 timberwolf. Where do I find the part with the TDC mark? Is it under the cover on the left side of the cylinder with two phillips head screws? I know the valve covers are on top of the cylinder.

94 timberwolf starter does not engage engine

I have a 1994 Yamaha Timberwolf that has been a strong running machine until recently. This past year I replaced the pulsar coil which resolved a prior problem I was having. After running for several weeks without a hitch, I one day went out to start it and it would not. The starter motor is turning but it does not engage the engine. Can anyone suggest a remedy to get it running again?

I have gone over the whole electrical system while in the process of correcting the pulsar coil problem. I believe where I hear the starter motor turning the problem lies elsewhere; I think.
