Turbo cool down

Owner’s manual says 30 seconds. I say that isn’t long enough. If I let mine idle for 30 seconds then shut it down then wait a minute or so temp will have climbed to over 212 degrees. This was after a 16 mile run and the last couple miles was at 40mph.

How long do you let yours idle?

Midwest dirt runner turbo has arrived

Turbo arrived last yesterday. Dealer told me it threw a code while unloading it. I tried to get the code from them but nobody could recall it. Called Polaris and it was a boast code caused by idling around. They were informed to clear the codes and go WOT for 10 seconds. The ecu would relearn boast levels of driver.

Imagine the joy of the mechanics since they were told to NOT drive my rig and then get to go out and WOT….haha. They loved it. Got it home and drove around a bit to start break in. This thing pulls hard and will put you back in the seat.

All of my parts are here or on the way. Lots of fab work to do from the cage up. Bolt on from the cage down for now. Motor and suspension mods in a few months as the tuners get packages out.

This will be used on my private trails which are a mix of dirt/grass and fast. I make a trip to Little Sahara usually two times a year. Its parked beside my 935 which will be a back or I might turn it into a 1/4 scale dirt track racer. Let the fun begin!

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to post issues/fixes, builds and rides. It is greatly appreciated.

XP turbo belt issues?

Been watching this forum for a belt issue on the new XP turbo and I’m happy to see that there is none that I have seen to date:ok:….I know its still early and not many people have a ton of miles on the new turbo but its looking like Polaris has nailed it!… 144 HP running through a CVT with no problems yet… Even Johnny with UTV INC. made the 540 mile desert race all on the factory belt without an issue.. Good job POLARIS:ride:

How is the XPT in the Whoops?

Hey Guys-

I just picked up my XPT on Friday. I won’t have time to get out for at least a couple weeks. I haven’t seen many videos of this thing in action. The Yamaha was just released on Monday and seems to have more coverage! I want to know how the XPT handles wide-open desert/whooped out terrain… does anyone have video footage? I’m coming up from an XP900 and have many friends with the 1K. Is there a noticeable improvement over XP1K’s in the suspension department?

XP Turbo exhaust thread!

So the new XP Turbo car has been in aftermarket and consumers hands for about a month now. Its about time we start seeing some new performance mods become available.

In the past, on stock UTV’s it has been my experience that aftermarket exhaust systems do little more than generate extra noise without a considerable power improvement. But now we have a new OEM turbo charged machine that should in theory, respond to exhaust modification with increases in performance, and without generating too much extra noise. In a way, a turbo acts as a muffler, or resonator and are generally quieter than naturally aspirated engines.

With that said, I cant wait to hear what these cars sound like with aftermarket exhaust systems!

Sound off! Lets hear em!
