Play in wheel bearings

So today I replaced the front wheel bearings on my 2012 900xp.
I used OEM replacement bearings from Polaris and after new bearings are installed I still have play (movement) in the bearing.
The ball joints and tie rod ends are all tight,so there is no movement there.

Is there a way to shim the bearings or axle so that there is no movement in the wheel bearing?
Thanks for any help in advance.

Engine Noise/Little Smoke/Hard Start

Howdy guys,

Over the last month I started getting engine noise. It’s hard to start (has been since the rebuild) when cold but is fine after it warms up it starts right away. When you first get it started the exhaust smells and you see a bit of smoke but then goes away sort of. You can smell exhaust while driving. On initial start the motor is rough and will die until it warms a bit.

One of the issues was chain slapping so I replaced the cam chain tension with a manual one from Alba Racing and that solved that problem. It looked like the original one but can’t be sure. I notice it used about a 3/4quart of oil in 300 miles or so.

Still has plenty of pep but seems to take a bit longer to hit say 65mph. it runs fine after about 15 min.

Before my last trip I pulled all the rear body panels off to do a major cleaning and replace the cam chain tensioner and plugs. I run a UMP filter setup and I had no dust past the filter or in the tubes and the throttle body was clean. If any dust did get by I didn’t see any.

The rebuilt motor only has about 1200 miles on it. The motor had everything replaced on the rebuild.

Stumped and a bit Po’d over this considering what I spent on the rebuild and everything I have done to make sure dirt or dust never make it to the motor.

Any offerings?

Thanks much

How to tell if a FRONT SPINDLE is bent???

My front wheels are toe’d out way too much. Before I re-align the front tires again (I aligned the front tires about 8 months ago), I want to be sure that none of my front spindles are bent. Tonight, I jacked up my 900xp and removed the front tires and the spindles don’t appear to have any obvious bends or damage. However, I did notice that the arm that sticks out the rear of each spindle (connecting to steering rod) is at a different height off the ground. One spindle arm measures 12.25" above the garage floor and the other side measures 13.5" above the garage floor. I’m not sure if the height from the floor means the spindle arms are bent or not.

Also, I noticed small grooves on the inside of the front rims. Can a bent front spindle cause the brake calipers rub a slight groove on the insides of the front rim?

Also, can a bent front spindle shift the upper a-arm towards the rear about 1" to 2"? Or is that not possible?

Axles for rockcrawling

I have been using Highlifter DHT for the last year and have had nothing but trouble. The first one the band came off the first time out. The replacement axle had a loose band that wasn’t even installed properly from the factory. Since then my rock crawling friend has broken two- sent them off to be rebuilt and the first time out the boots tore. I then broke mine and we were trail riding in Colorado not extreme stuff like Hot Springs ORV Park or Green Acres in Clayton.
So I am hunting for the best axles out there?
If you are into rock crawling which do you use and how are they holding up?

Thanks
