ATVFourPlay Radius Rods for XP900

Here’s a quick report on the rods from ATVFourPlay that Tom sent me. These aren’t your average radius rod. They are 1" .25" thick tubing and reinforced to boot. The install was just like any other rod and getting the wheels at the angle I wanted was simple. I’ve put about 80 miles on them at Windrock and TWRA and they don’t show any signs of bending or any other issues. *They have about the same clearance as my buddy’s Highlifter radius rods but I like them better because they protect the outer CV joint from behind. *I’ll report back as I get more mileage on these rods but they seem like a winner.

OUCH, it hurts when you buy a drain plug from Polaris.

While changing the fluid in both the front and rear gearboxes on both machines yesterday, the drain plug on the front gearbox on my RZR stripped. The 8mm allen socket completely rounded out. I bought an easy out to remove it, shouldn’t be a big deal to get it out, I’ll get to it tomorrow.

The last time the gearbox fluids were changed in these machines I paid someone to do it, my mistake counting on someone else to do it right. They must have used a 36" breaker bar instead of a torque wrench with the correct 10 to 14 ft/lb of torque specification in the service manual. At this point I consider myself very lucky only one stripped, all 8 were way over torqued. I won’t make that mistake again, live and learn.

I thought it would be a good idea to get the new plug before removing the stripped out one, so I called RideNow to check on stock and price, lucky me they had one, not so lucky me, $44.XX for a drain plug that has a o’ring and magnet. WTF, I damn near shat myself when I heard the price.

Tips for installing the drain and fill plugs, 1- use a torque wrench set to the factory specification, if you don’t have a torque wrench snug it up do not crank down hard on it. 2- put some anti-seize on the threads.

Now I have a question. Has anyone second sourced these plugs? If so, please post the vendor and part numbers. I want to replace all of them next time I change the fluids, so I need 4 fill and 4 drain plugs and I refuse to pay that price for 8 plugs.

2014 900 or xp1k

I have two guys wanting to trade for my jeep one is a 2014 xp1k with 1800 miles doors, stereo, skid plate and high clearance a arms. The other is a 2014 xp900. 225 miles and 33 hrs. High clearance a arms, light bar, beadlocks and 30" bighorn tires. I don’t know which one would be better. I like trail riding with my 2013 rzrs dunes sometimes but would like a little faster machine all opinions will help.

Aftermarket timing chain tensioner. (whats best?)

Looking to upgrade my timing chain tensioner to an aftermarket auto type on my 900 XP. Reason for the change is cold start rattle.

Looking into Weller racing tensioner which seems to be an improved hydraulic type, also looking into boondockers or Albas, which are mechanical type.

Wondering if I could get some input from someone who has one of these installed or knows more about them. What one would be the best and why?

Thanks for the input.
