Error Codes

Out riding yesterday and I see an error code come up Lo10.8, last digit changes from .6 up to .9. I notice my engine temperature climbing so I stop and don’t here the fan running. Turned the engine off and let in cool down, maximum temperature it reached was 210°F, it’s never been over 204°F before. When I turned the key to the on position you could hear the fan trying to come on, running about half speed, cycling off and on several times.

We had been driving at slower speeds in LOW AWD. The decision was made to turn around and ride back to the trailer keeping an eye on the engine temperature and stopping if it looked like it was going to overheat. I put it in HIGH 2WD and kept the speed up to move more air across the radiator. This worked find and we got it back to the trailer with no problems. The code reappeared several times on the way back but the temperature never got over 190°F and the RZR was running fine.

So this Thanksgiving I’m grateful that 1) I didn’t overheat (destroy) my engine, 2) I didn’t have to get towed back to the trailer and 3) it didn’t ruin the rest of the day for everyone else. We put it on the trailer and I rode with my wife in her RZR the rest of the day.

So, this code (Lo10.8) and the fan not running? Is that a low voltage code? Is it possible at 4,500 miles my voltage regulator is shot? Maybe a fan relay? Maybe the fan itself is gone? Temperature indicator seems to be working correctly. Sure don’t want to take it in to Ride Never for repair, so any help I can get here on the forum would be great.

The machine is a 2012 XP900, approx. 4,500 miles, all stock no engine performance upgrades, no previous issues.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Todd

Alba Exhaust Question

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I have an issue with an Alba exhaust I bought off a forum member. I pm’d him, but today being a holiday and all, I probably won’t get an answer.

The Alba exhaust isn’t lining up. The stock one goes off without a hitch. However, this "Alba" one, aside from looking like a knockoff (ugly welds and hanger brackets that are much larger than stock), just won’t line up. I even tried removing the headers and lining it up that way but the header stays angled down so that only the top of the Alba looks like it’s seated. The bottom is not making contact.

I don’t want to wreck the gasket, but the tolerance for it to sit right is just way off. The box the exhaust came in was extremely damaged, but nothing except the exhaust tip seems to have taken damage so I can’t really blame USPS. Even if I take the whole thing apart and try to match it up, it seems as if the springs would snap from how far the retainers on the pipes are.

Is there anything I could try that would enable me to make broader adjustments? It’s just way too difficult to be a "slip-on" at this point. I’d rather have just put on a full exhaust by how much work I put into it.

I’d appreciate any help. I put the stock pipe back on in the meantime. I’m so frustrated about the whole deal and the effort to get it on there.

starter intermediately engaging

I think I know the answer but just wanted some input. At idle, my 900 XPs starter sounds like it’s engaging to start periodically. Starter is not hot as if it was trying to start by itself. The post with gear is fine. Starter turns smooth buy hand. I’m guessing it’s the starter gear behind flywheel. Thanks in advance

Trans rear diff vent hose mess

Last time out i noticed a smell, then saw smoke. I immediately shut it off, thinking the worst. Anyway traced problem to oil from the trans vent , which is routed up into the frame dripping on hot exhaust. Anyone had this problem? No rear diff us not overfilled. Appreciate aby input. Thanks.

Rear diff leak

Just bought a 2011 Rzr xp900. Dropped the skid plate and the rear diff looks like it’s been getting wet from maybe the sea behind where the driveshaft connects see attached pics. Anything to be concerned about? Or just check fluid level?
