I put this review in the XP4 forum instead of the seat forum because I think some of the information is relevant to the XP4 (the reason why I bought one).
I’m 6’4" 200#. I had a 2008 800 before purchasing my XP4 last month. The 800 always felt small for me (of course at the time, it was the only sport option). Finally broke down and upgraded to the 1k. For whatever reason, I didn’t mind the seat in the 800……I’m thinking I just didn’t know any better. Really disliked the seats in the 1k. So the search for better seats was started. My first thoughts are wow……expensive. Many of the seats I tried were to "tight" for me. I’m not planning on running the Baja or hitting trails at wide open throttle, so the super tight fit to the body was not my goal. My XP4 is going to be a trail machine (yes, here out west we can do that in a full size rig) and Glamis a few times during the winter. I was looking for some support, and a comfortable fit. Then I came across the SSC seats on UTV Giant website. Great price, quality "looked" good from the pictures, and I had bought several quality items from them over the last month (roof and lower doors). Decided to pull the plug and give it a shot. I found minimal reviews on the product, so here is my shot at it (sorry for the previous babbling).
Ordered on 10/13 and arrived on 10/15 (CA to AZ).
The 2 seats were packed in a single box, each seat wrapped in a thick plastic bag. Upon inspection, the stitching looked consistent and symmetrical around the entire seat. The seats came with bars to bolt up to the stock slider assembly. Everything went together as you would expect. Noticeable size difference between the SSC seats and factory. Installed and everything fits great!!!!
Post install observations:
Huge improvement over factory seats. Ran down to the store and post office, feels like a totally different machine. The seat release pull strap works great. I mentioned earlier that the side supports were not as pronounced as other models, but I do need to lift up to clear the lower rise on the seat cushion upon exit. Speaking of seat cushion, the back edge has a mesh section to allow water drainage. If I do put the seat to the full rear position, the "U" shaped rod and helps supports the middle of the factory seat is rubbing on the rear seat back vinyl. It actually pushes it on about 1/2". I cant see much benefit of leaving it in place, might grind it off so that it doesn’t rub on the seat.
Let me know if you have any questions. Sorry I cant compare these to other aftermarket seats, this is my first experience with them.
Sorry, trying to get all the pictures rotated correctly
Found a slightly used set with front 28" buffs. I have a bone stock 2014 XP41K.
I don’t shoot the hill or race the drags. Just dune in Glamis with the wife and kids. Will I be ok with 28’s? I hear the 30" are what I want but do I need is the question….
Anyone know where I can get graphic inserts for the OEM Polaris Lower Doors? I’ve looked all over and can’t find anyone. The Only one I’ve found was AMR, and they are a glossy material (stock is matte) and cover the entire lower door. I just want two graphic inserts so the lower doors look factory. You’d think for what I paid for them, they would have included them…
Hey guys I know every time someone posts about a fire everyone jumps on the "they were carrying a gas can in the back" bandwagon. But there have been some that claim they weren’t carying a fuel can and still went up in flames. So my question is has anybody had a fuel rail fail? Was there fire? The reason I ask is I will now be taking my 2 year old with me and want to be as flame free as possible so I ordered the Billet rail from rpm and one of my buddies is laughing at me for buying something "I do not need" and doesn’t believe that cheap fuel rail could be the issue.
I have a 2014 1000 4 seater, when I put the tranny in gear it doesn’t go all the way in and when I give it a little throttle it jerks into gear. Now when I put it in reverse to back up and then put it in high it makes some grinding noise until the car gets going then the noise stops and everything is good.If I go from reverse to low there is no issue. My question to anyone that can help me is this a linkage adjustment problem and if so how do I adjust it? Thanks
I’m curious as to how much quicker a 1000 is than a 900? Anybody had both ? Pros and cons of each. I like that the 900 is shorter. 1000 seems like a bus . Mostly intetested in drag race comparison as well as sand dunes. Xp 900 only not 15 +900.
