For those of you who have had an older Rzr s vs the new trail. I can pick up a clean orange madness with power steering for 11000. I can also pick up a brand new black pearl eps trail 900 for 14500
Money is not the issue. Just wondering what you guys thought Is the better buy. I know the s might ride slightly better but I think I’ll throw a super atv +5 kit on the trail at some point if trail width allows.
The 900 sounds like the better motor. Coming off an outlander 1000 I wonder if the 800 will bore me..
2015 rzr 900 50. I put a EMP half windsheild and wider 9 inch tires all around and now the cab is acting like a vacuum for dust lol. It’s so bad my girl won’t come in the rig and more . Will putting a rear dust window for EMP fix this problem? Lmk guys thanks
Ok, we left home on Monday (3 days ago) on a two week, three location trip with our new RZR 900 Trail. Into the second ride and 20 miles from camp, we caught a rock into the backside of the radiator and sprung a leak. I won’t go into all the details of getting the machine back to camp but let me say…IT SUCKED!!!
So you are probably telling yourself, well that’s bad luck. It is but there’s something you should know if you own a 2015 model. You see, it’s not just bad luck but a flaw on the part of Polaris because our machines have no shroud behind the radiator. That means all the rocks and junk that get flung off the front tires are bouncing around like little missiles behind the radiator. Sometimes (in our case) they hit the plastic cab and literally get shot at the back of the radiator. Again, unlike previous models and competitors models, there is NO SHROUD protecting the back of the radiator.
There is no doubt in my mind this was an oversight by Polaris on our 2015 models. There are at least two other people on this forum that have had the same thing happen:
So the big question is: Will Polaris step up to the plate and admit there is a design flaw? Will Polaris foot the bill under warranty? Will they recognize they have a problem and come up with a fix?
To be clear, we LOVE this machine so far (393 miles). We have been life long Honda owners and crossed over to SxS this year. I am 100% sure the rear radiator shroud (or lack of) is a design failure. Especially after looking at other machines. It is only a matter of time before this happens to other people or even us again. And keep in mind, when this happened to my wife and I, we we simply driving down a Forest Service road at 25 mph. Completely out of the blue we had a hole in our radiator and we were stuck.
Just got home and I’m ready to start cleaning the machine…did I mention how fun (and dusty) it is to be towed by a CanAm? I’ve said a lot of bad things about my uncle’s Commander but I can’t say another bad word now. Going to take it to the dealer and have them ask Polaris to cover it under warranty. We will see.

I apologize for getting into a subject that has been kicked around several times but I recently attended a ATV jamboree in central California and after the third day riding in just moderately dusty conditions, I checked my air filter and was amazed how totally filled up it was after starting clean, I should add that the inside was clean so at least no internal dusting. I was riding my Maverick and a friend my RZR, and comparing the two the Maverick had very little dust. I suspect this was because the intake for the Maverick was up front and higher but regardless the difference was huge. I have come to the conclusion the answer is some kind of snorkel with a decent pre filter clamped on top. Has anyone come up with such a setup and have some pictures? Even my dealer says the system is crap.

My wife and I just did 558 miles of trail riding in Utah. I have over 1000 miles on my RZR 900 now and it’s been outstanding, not one problem with it. We rode over rocky trails going over mountains 10,000 + feet in elevation. We did wide open dirt roads, and tight wooded trails. It handled everything easily without missing a beat, and the fuel range is excellent. It did lose a bit of power in the high elevations, but that’s to be expected. It always ran flawlessly though. The engine braking worked great on the steep descents, and the handling and suspension soaked up the bumps very well. What a great machine and we can’t wait until our next riding adventure.
Just bought a new 900 XC and trying to decide on roof. I will have to chop the roll cage 2" to fit in toyhauler. Would the Aluminum roof be too hot in this Florida sun? I need something that mounts close to the top of cage, anybody have any suggestions? Thanks
