Just bought a used 170, smokes, looking at big bore

So I bought a used RZR 170 from a buddy, it sat for about a year and was fine when parked, went to get it and it started smoking like crazy. Looking a different big bore kits and came across this:

Cylinder Set – Engine Parts – Street Scooters – PartsForScooters.com Store

Has anyone used this or know if it’s any good or will even work? It says it does but I just wanted to more input on it. My plan was to get that and these:

180cc Cylinder Head – Engine Parts – Street Scooters – PartsForScooters.com Store

Mikuni VM26 Performance Carburetor – Air & Fuel – Pocket Bikes, Dirt Bikes & ATVs – PartsForScooters.com Store

I’m not sure about the carb or if I even need it. Could I just use the factory carb? We have a factory airbox and exhaust and I do not plan on changing it yet

2012 rzr 170 need advise

I just picked up a 170 from my brothers neighbor for a steal but I need some advice on parts. The top of air box and filter is gone. My question is do I buy a factory replacement lid or is there a better aftermarket solution for this. I need a choke cable too. Also is there anything I need to check besides the obvious fluids and general maintainance items. Thanks in advance

Cheap 170 doors!!

I’m telling you guys this is the best looking and cheapest way to get a solid functional door on you child’s 170. I bought 2 used 1000 XP doors and we have the driver side mounted. It looks factory and I couldn’t be more pleased. These doors are laying around shops and forums all over. I bought mine here for $65. With a little fab work and welding we are close to being ready for Christmas. I will have pics soon. BTW I think I will have less than $250 total invested.

Throttle help

Hey guys. Got a 2014 170 and it is not running correctly. First I noticed that when my son put it in gear it would jump a little. Still running correctly at that time just seemed to be idling high. He was able to ride it like that for a short while.

Now it will still jump but then thats it. I have zero throttle response. I took the throttle box off and made sure the cable is connected. Then I took the throttle cable out of the carb. Hope I didn’t screw up there. Press the gas petal and It seemed I only had around 1/4" movement. Is this correct? With any movement at all I don’t think the cable is broken. Any one have any idea’s? Thanks for any info!

Carb Jetting

Good evening gentlemen, I have been doing a lot of research on this great forum and I am having a hard time finding a "clear" answer (if there is one). I have a 2010 170 and I am wanting to do some DIY upgrades with my boys on Christmas. I want to snorkel the intake to get rid of the under the rear deck air box. No my machine did not get the recall install. Not for racing or making a rocket ship out of this thing. I live in central Fl. so our elevation is zero. I know a lot of other factors go into jetting, other mods, type of materiel used for intake, exhaust ect. Other than this mod the machine is stock. My plan was to either use 1 1/2 inch PVC, or the chrome sink pipe I saw on another thread, with the K&N filter coming up through the access panel.
So my question is. Is this something I should attempt on Christmas day? I really do not want to install the upgrade than have it run like crap. Or can I purchase a few different jets and try them to see which ones work best? If so where should I start?
FUTV makes this sound real easy. Install the pipe insert jets and off you go. But then there are multiple discussion about multiple different jets. I am pretty handy with small engines, and I know how finicky carbs can be. Any suggestions would be great. If it is easy as trying a few different jets no worries. If I try a few jets and it still does not work, not a good Christmas.
Thanks in advance for any advice D.
