I just bought an 84 Honda 200m. It ran amazing except for it had a high idle. My papa and I decided to clean the carburetor in it and we got the idle adjusted using the set screw and the brass adjustment screw that threads into the throttle cable cap in the top of the carb. Ever since we cleaned it, it will only run well for about 5-10 minutes until it starts to choke and hesitate when ever I give it throttle. Its like it has a rev limiter and will not let it rev up. It idles well most of the time but sometimes it slowly boggs out after a few minutes of sitting. The spark plug always comes out black. I have since cleaned the carb twice and it does not seem to help. I cant seem to figure it out but I think it is carb related because it ran well before I took the carb apart.
I am new to carburetors and a guy I talked to said some guys lose what is called the needle holder and that may be my problem? Is there a needle holder in the 200m carbs? Any input on this or any other possible problem would be greatly apreciated! Thanks
Anyone out there own a 2015 Honda Rubicon? I just bought it new about 3 weeks ago and the first ride on it the shifting was delayed. Ive been riding electric shift Honda’s since i can remember and all of them shift as soon as you hit the button. It is the dual clutch transmission that can be automatic or ES and it has power steering. I am just wondering if this is normal or if it should shift just like a foreman ES?? Just a little more detail on the shifting, when im riding and i let off the gas and press the up shift button it doesn’t shift right away and ill get back on the gas and it pops into gear. The dealer says its operating flawlessly and told me if it doesn’t shit right in ES then dont use it….
ok I have another winner of a project. its a 2003 trx 450 fe when I got it the battery was dead and the was told the battery was new but the machine had a battery draw and would drain the battery in 2 hours. I tested the stator and the stator was fried so I got one and started to change it out when the gear position switch in the stator cover basically fell apart as soon as I took the cover off. ordered a new switch and installed the switch the stator and a new pulse alternator. hooked everything up and put my charger on the battery and discovered a crap ton of other problems, soon as the charger was turned on the whole bike started to vibrate. I traced the vibration to the change control unit, unplugged it and noticed the reg/rec was getting hot while the charger was on so unplugged it (have a new reg/rec ordered).
The whole time I have different codes being flashed at different times, 4×4 light flashing 4 times, giving the 8 code and think I seen a 6 code on the gear indicator that is — and the whole time no neutral light unless I short it at the sol and no electric start unless sol jumped (no neutral light).
anyone have an idea where to start? would the reg rec take out the change control unit? and is the lack of neutral light the reason for no spark and electric start?
Hey guys, I need yalls help once again. I have a 2008 Honda foreman 500 when I hit the starter button it does nothing, the solenoid does not even click, but when I jump the solenoid it starts right up. Would that mean that my solenoid is bad?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I’ve been working on arcs and vehicles for a long time and I have an abundance of tools and knowledge at my disposal; however, I have finally come across a problems with my ol rancher that I cannot for the life of me figure out what’s wrong with it. Here goes it. My rancher has 20k plus miles on it and has never given me a lick of problems. Doesn’t tick knock or blow smoke and she’s been rode hard and put up wet and been sunk multiple times. I backed her off in a pond to ride a water wheelie and I did and everything was fine and dandy for the next few minutes then it just died. Lost all power to the display and neutral indicator started flashing and the little rectangular black plug in box started clicking really loud so I put a new one of those on it and it didn’t help any. And it wouldn’t turn over or anything. I pull it back to the house and try to jump it off, but nothing happened. I cross the solenoid and it turns over but will not fire off and it’s not getting spark. It’s getting fuel because I can smell it. What’s going on here? Computer fried? Bad ground? I’ve tried most everything.

I have a 87 350 foreman that I put rings in last year. Since then it doesnt smoke except when you gear down or going down hill without giving it gas. Just riding or accellerating it doesnt smoke. Any ideas what the problem could be?
I have a 300fw that shifts fine from 1st throuh 4th but when you shift to 5th it is like you are in neutral. Any ideas of what the problem is and how hard will it be to fix?
On Saturday while out on a ride my Rubicon ran great for half an hour and then just suddenly it back fired and stopped. Couldn’t restart. Ever since this incident if I wait for about 10 minutes it will start up and run great for 5-10 min at low and high speeds with no acceleration problems and then it stops running and won’t restart…wait 10 min and it restarts.
I checked the fuel flow out to the carb and it had good a good flow. Fuel tank vent only vents out not in (could this be the problem?). I am planning to rebuild the carb if the tank vent is OK thinking it would most likely be a sticky float causing the engine to starve for fuel.
