Carburetor

I have a 2006 Trail Edition ATV. I recently noticed a gas leak from a small hose that seems to coming from the carburetor. On this hose there appears to be an inline filter or a valve, I’m not sure which. Can someone advise what would cause gas to leak from this tube? It looks like an overflow tube because it’s just facing straight down to the ground with nothing on the end.

How to install air filter in air box – 2002 Recon trx250tm

Hi all. I got this quad from my father-in-law and it has been sitting for 7+ years. When I got it home, I started taking things apart to get it going and I don’t remember how this air filter fit into the fitting in the air box. Does the metal neck of the inner screen/filter go INTO the fitting on the airbox? Does the hose clamp then secure around the neck of the black plastic fitting that the metal neck is in? I figured it did, but I can’t get it in and I don’t want to break it. Thanks!

2016 rubicon lags between gears

New to the forum so not sure how this all works but my 2016 rubicon seems to take it’s sweet time shifting gears when in auto shift. More noticable when getting on the throttle. Anyone know if this is normal or not? Also when starting the engine it has to crank for a couple seconds before she pops- not used to this my old rancher seem to pop almost instantly. Any words of wisdom?????

500FM rear end stripped out, but where?

2009 Foreman 500FM, has about 2K miles on it.

Was riding through the duck hole this weekend, hammered down on it and heard a popping and the rear wheels quit pulling.

I figured I’d stripped the splines on the rear axle, but was kinda miffed that it would have given up with only 2K miles on it. Drained fluid and it looked like gear oil. Not perfectly clear, but not bad either.

So yesterday I tore the rear end down. I’d already planned on putting new seals in the brake, and when I tore it down I found it full of water (wasn’t surprised). The left side bearing had a little play in it (not bad, but enough to need replacement) and both sides of the axle tube had a little water in them.

After looking at the axle splines, they don’t look bad at all. Still have the little machine marks on the splines. Driveshaft splines looked good too, but there were metal shavings on top of the pinion seal.

I took the diff apart, and the teeth all look good, but when I put it back together now the ring and pinion bind up. There was one shim on pinion side of the ring gear which I put back in place, so kinda stumped on why it’s binding up now.

Given that the ring gear, pinion, axle splines and driveshaft spines all look good, the only thing else I can think of is the ujoint coming off the rear of the motor. I ran out of daylight before I had time to take the boot off and check it.

Anyone got any idea on the ring and pinion binding? Anything I’m overlooking here?

help with fuel issue please

hi guys. today my 400ex cut off while was riding. after trying to restart for several minutes i took a look. i made nsure that gas was coming from the fuel tank. i checked tank breather, crankcase breather. i took carb apart and looked at the main jet leak jet pilot jet and main jet holder. i held the carb up to the light with the main jet cap off and opened the slide and i could see a pinhole of light. no blockage. reassembled everything and tried starting wiith air filter off.
So i noticed the accelerator pump was working but no gas coming from the main jet when the slide opened. i thought it would be flooded or fuel fouled now because im always pumping the gas when starting and ive ran into that alot before. plug wasnt even wet after like ten minutes of pumping gas and turning it over. i drained the float bowl, it had gas in it. so im down to this: i have gas in the bowl, all jets are clear, the carb is "sucking" but no gas coming through the main jet. im thinking like air cut valve? it seems like as gas leaves the float bowl something has to enter to replace it… you cant suck liquid out of a completely sealed container …so either….float valve will allow gas into the bowl but gets stuck closed once the bowl is full, which would prevent any gas from being drawn out of the bowl or there is another valve for this purpose that is stuck closed? im just speculating but i know the petcock is fine, i checked the valves, all jets are clear, accelerator pump is working fine…but no gas is being drawn up from the bowl into the carb. am i on the right track? obviously the next step would be spray starting fluid into the carb, however i did all the work above with a very small tool kit i take with me, and i ended up leaving my atv about a mile up in the woods and walking home. Im going back in the morning…its too far with too many hills to push, i dont know anyone else with an atv to pull me, my truck cant go there, so it will sit there until i repair it or someone solves my problem by stealing it. thanks in advance

2001 250ex shifting problem

So I have an issue with shifting after having my 250 recon apart completely to change the crankshaft and centrifugal clutch.

I am 99% sure the transmission was reinstalled properly(used a manual), but now that i have the motor back in the bike with no electrical hooked up its stuck in gear. I get 3 solid clicks(guessing each is a shift) using the shift lever but none of them are neutral(I am pretty sure I should have at least 5 clicks). I was messing with the shift lever for a while and got it into reverse(rolled backwards but not forward), but after I pulled the lever up once it skipped neutral and locked the wheels again.

This was my first attempt at doing a full tear down and reassembly of an engine of this size and complexity and I don’ really know where to go from here.

If anyone has ever had this issue or have an idea what it may be, any help would be much appreciated.

420fm 4th gear trouble

hello, I have a 2008 honda 420fm that I got after someone else took it apart and I was told 4th gear was out of it. I inspected all of the parts and replaced 4th gear and couple of other gears that appeared to be worn where the shift collar splined to them and i replaced one shift collar that appeared to be worn and the shift drum, because it came with one of my gear kits, and all 3 shift forks because they were worn. I was told that a young boy had ridden it alot and that he liked to keep his foot under the shift lever and was constantly putting pressure on it. it worked fine when I got it all back together for about an hour and a half or two hours and called the owner to come get it and had him to ride it before he took it and he said it felt normal to him. he took it home and changed the tires on it and he said he rode it down his driveway and it did fine and then he said his son rode it down the driveway and came back and said it was still not fixed and he brought it back to me and now when you put it in 4th gear it goes into gear but if you hold the brake and give it some throttle it sounds like the shift collar and gear are slipping until it idles back down and then it is normal. all of the other gears appear to be working as they should. I have inspected the shift linkage and can not see anything that appears to be wrong with it or worn out in it. does anybody have any idea of what could be causing this problem. I am not real familiar with these but I was wondering if the gear shift cam could possible be worn enough to cause this but not be easily noticable. thanks in advance.
