I was curious about cleaning and greasing this area. After I pulled my axle housing I noticed the axle and the side to the diff was a bit dirty. Nothing extreme, but it did have some sand grains mixed with grease. So my questions is, should I clean and grease that area as best as I can, or pull the differential apart and clean the whole thing? I’m just worried sand and mud has gotten inside the diff and on the splines. I did check the oil level and it’s fine/clean.

Was under my 420 tonight putting on the metal skids I bought for it a few month ago. Noticed that my rear output shaft seal is leaking. I won’t be using it much if any between now and hunting season, so until then I’ll be keeping an eye on oil level and waiting until the weather cools off a little to replace the seal. I already knew that I needed to take a look at the drum break, it’s either worn out, stuck, or improperly adjusted, so I’ll be tackling them at the same time. Anything else I should be inspecting and checking to fix while I have the rear end torn apart?
What happened to the service manual thread? I had the one for my ATV, but my computer got killed during a lightning storm two weeks ago and had to replace my hard drive. The one for dad’s atv is saved to his computer, I might have a copy for mine on there as well, but I doubt it and it’s about 30 miles away so I can’t go check.

Sorry for the lousy cell phone video, but I just did a top end on my 99 trx300fw, used jug and piston in good shape miked out within all specs, new rings, gasket kit, etc. Did break in procedure per the service manual.went from burning lots of oil with tons of smoke to no smoke whatsoever, and oil level consistent.
Video was taken after about a half hour ride varying from slow and technical to road conditions. Does this motor sounds normal? I’ve never had an atv to compare to and it sounds a bit loud to me. Seems to have gotten louder when hot.
I was studying up on the dual-clutch transmission because I am considering it for my new ATV next year. I have seen a few diagrams, and it appears that the function of the twin clutches come in to play during gear-to-gear shifts. When you come to a stop, there apparently is a third clutch that disengages power between the engine and driveline. Am I correct about this? There are actually three clutches involved in the DCT design?
my 2003 trx 350 fourtrax is not charging and when I remove one of the cables of the battery she dies! so I am guessing the inside charging coil is gone? Is it alot of work to change one and or could it be something else.I replaced the rectifier last yr with a new one if that has anything to do with it not charging. How can I test the coil?
