I am not getting a spark when trying to start.
The engine turns over and there is Gas
I tried a new spark plug and have pulled a few items from my other identical machine to try to narrow it down.
The Honda Dealer has it and they have not had any success either.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.
I have a 03 Rancher ES with starting issues. The magnetic starter switch just vibrated when start button was pressed. I replaced the switch and the problem persisted. I replaced the starter and that did not solve the problem. When I short across the poles of the switch, the starter turns over fine. All of the connections and fuses appear OK. Any suggestions? My last visit to the shop cost over $450. I would like to fix this problem myself.
I have posted about this problem before but I can not find the thread.
I have a Foreman 450 that will run to about 1/4 throttle then cuts out over and over again and it will start to smoke. I have put a carburetor and cleaned it to make sure all is good, new air filter, reset the timing, fresh gas, checked all fuses, sprayed starting fluid around the intake, checked compression was 180psi, and reset valves. It will start right up with no choke, and will smoke till it warms up but then it will still smoke if you get over 1/4 throttle when it goes to cutting out. I am about to give up, none of this makes sense to me. What is wrong with IT?
working on forman that has no spark. coil primary ohms .2 and the primary to plug wire is 7k. Can anyone tell me if that is right? Also how do I trouble shoot this machine

Hi. I am a new quad rider and love it so far. I bought a used Rancher as described in the subject. It has 940 miles on it and body was in good shape. Right after buying it, I painted it….picture attached!!! Anyways, i have only driven it 5 times and from time to time the up shift was not working while trying to shift higher. I kept pushing the button until it would finally shift. I kept riding thinking nothing of it. Finally, i stopped in 2nd……started to ride and it would not shift higher. I then stopped and found it would not shift higher, only lower, even when stopped. I ended up shifting into reverse and now i am stuck in reverse. Downshifting worked but upshiftiting did not. I ended up getting the the quad home (using a jack on rear), so that is positive. Now, i changed the angle sensor today and nothing changed. After changing the sensor, do i have to reset the computer? Not sure how if needed. The computer is giving me 2 long blinks and 2 short so code 22.
Can anyone help a new guy out? I took my quad to dealer and it was stuck there for 4 weeks before getting it returned and all i had done was a safety check and service. Id rather fix myself or ah least give it another try. Thanks.
Hey guys , My son was out today and apparently the spring broke on the L F shock. I never looked yet but if so what other Honda shocks can I use that are better than the stock 300 shocks or is there a affordable aftermarket shock? Thanks , Shannon 🙂
To make a long story short, I came across an 06 Recon last week. the guy said he put a new carburetor on it and I specifically asked if it was a honda carb. He said it absolutely was, straight from the dealer.
After some work with a kinked fuel line and a backwards one way vale on the tank overflow I had it running. After it ran for a bit the idle goes a little haywire. So after some thought I realized I never adjusted the fuel/air mixture.
Here’s where I’m stumped. After some looking around I expected to find the "D" shaped pilot screw but I don’t have one. Further, it appears my passage is blocked off. I have the old carb (probably not anything wrong with it the guy said) so I tried fitting the old pilot screw into the new carb. The passage is definitely blocked.
I have to be missing something easy. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi long time reader first post! I have a 2002 400ex with Yoshi full exhaust, uni filter, stage 2cam,170 main 38pilot 3 turns out on fuel screw and needle on 3rd from top. My problem is after installing the cam I have a sputter at 1/4 throttle or less. I know this is the idol circuit and I have tried everythinf from 1 1/2 turns on the mixture screw to 4 turn with no difference. once I am past 1/4 throttle It runs fine but I cant get rid of the popping and missing in the 1/4 throttle range…. Any help would be appreciated. and I have cleand the carb with cleaner and compressed air.
