Anyone ever repair a Foreman 400 Speedometer Sensor?

I saw a great sticky on repairing the angle sensor and was wondering if anyone has ever had any luck repairing the speedometer sensor for the 96-03 Foreman 400?
It doesn’t seem like there is much to break or wear out in them-
I thought it was just an encased rotating magnet with a pickup sensor.
Has anyone ever got one going again?
They sure seem to go bad a lot.
I have 2 bad ones that I am about to tear into and was looking for any guidance or help at all.
Thanks for a great site-

Please help, es issue

Hello, new to the forum and have ran j to an issue with my 06 rancher 350 es. Recently pulled the motor out to do the timing chain and tensioner, was rattling about so it was time. After re assembling I am puzzled. It seems my rancher no longer knows where neutral is and therefore the es is not working properly. It puts the neutral laugh in between third and fourth gear it seems. Manual shifting works fine. However once you use Es, it won’t go back down gears because it thinks it’s already as low as possible. Not sure what happened, replaced angle sensor and same issue, please help I wanna go riding again!!!
Thanks in advance

420AT speed sensor with SRA secondary gears

So finally cranked up the 420AT over the weekend. When I rebuilt the bottom end I put the SRA secondary gears in for a 15 or 18% (don’t remember which) gear reduction.

Naturally, it shifts into first and second find, doesn’t like to go into third, and won’t go into 4th and 5th at all.

Sooo, anyone have any pics of a shaved speed sensor that needs to be done to get this thing working? How do you know when you’ve shaved enough off?

Preventative Maintenence – 2016 Rancher Auto DCT

Just purchased a 2016 Rancher 420 Automatic, Non-Power Steering.

What, if anything, should I do now to prevent any issues down the road? This is the first ATV I have owned so maintenance on a machine like this is a new thing for me. I am going to order a Service Manual to read and have as a reference.

Are there any factory fluids/lubricants that should be changed out to superior products?

Any other tips/tricks I should know before I put too many miles on it? I currently have around 60 miles on the machine.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

starting trouble backfire

In the fall gas was turned to reserve, ran dry and not realizing this I tried starting for a while before noticing fuel.

I’ve gotten it started a few times but now it does not turn over and often backfires. There is also an air of fuel after a couple times of trying to start.

It’s a 96 fourtrax 300 4×4 only really been used for plowing for the last 10 yrs or so. Kept up on oil changes and always story in doors.

Please any ideas……

01 Rancher 350 Frame Swap Tips

Hello Everyone! This is my first post on the forum. I recently moved and bought an 01 Rancher 350 4×4 to use around the yard and plow some snow with. I thought all was well with the quad when I bought it, guy seemed legit, quad stared right up, ran good and looked good, all the title and paperwork was correct, so I bought it. 9 months later I go to put a plow on the quad, and see alot of the main tubing in front of the quad is rotting out due to rust. I was pretty upset. But I found a good used frame with a title, so I am planning on swapping the frames out here in the next couple months.

Has anyone ever done this, or have any suggestions for the process I should follow? My initial thought is to try to do the swap in big "sections" if I can, keep as much together as I can, but I have no clue what my real order of operations should be for the removal, or the re-assembly. Also, are there any specific tools i need (i heard about a special swingarm tool and 17mm allen i might need) and are there any wear items that I should order and have on hand to replace as I am re-assembling. Thanks in advance for any tips!

300 Fourtrax Blown Top End

Hey everyone

Looking for some guidance on the two options I have basically for repairing or replacing the motor in my 1994 300 Honda Fourtrax 4×4. Just recently tore down bike and removed top end of motor to find one valve had broke off into motor causing damage to head gasket and piston head was cracked. The walls of the cylinder have no scarring or damage and could seem to be cleaned up but i have little knowledge in engines to know if it would have to be replaced or not. I have also located a motor out of a 93 300 foutrax 4×4 for $300 and I’m looking for advice and how to check over a motor before purchasing to make sure I’m not buying someone elses problem.

My bike broke on me going up quite a steep hill shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear and bike shut right down and would never start again. Kickstart would not even go down with me standing on it and starter would just spin freely and not engage motor.
I’m looking for opinions on what the better solution would be price wise if i was able to find a head gasket and order rings piston for less than $300.

2001 400ex clutch problem

Hi guys
My quad just got put back together after the swingarm bolt getting stuck in the engine. I have been having trouble adjusting the clutch I had it set for a while then I tried to do it again and messed it up. I’ve tried adjusting the cable at the handlebars and nothing. I was wondering if it was the cable or if I have to pull the clutch cover to do something.
Thanks ! :funnysuzuki:
