I went to paint my header pipe, as it’s starting to look rusty and I usually paint them every so often to keep it looking nice, I noticed a lot of very deep pits, deeper than I remember them being mostly around the center part where the Heat guard covers. I haven’t ridden the 300 all summer and it was sitting outside for probably a month under a tarp. Along with the pitting there’s also a large crack going along the curve of the pipe, where did that come from? Was it really under that much stress outside? I’m more curious than anything, the crack doesn’t seem to be letting any exhaust out but I’ll have to double check. Anyone know how this pitting and crack came about? Was wondering if I could pump my front differential full of grease instead of differential fluid on my 07 Rancher 420. I did my rear and it’s worked good the last few rides but didn’t know if it would get into the transfer case or anything in the front.
I have 2014 honda rancher trx420fa AT so I got the IRS also is Electronic Shift. So it is a high gear ratio then the SRA. I put the SRA rear gears in my IRS. Works awesome with my EPI stall clutch!….but now my wheeler won’t shift at high rpms. It will shift when I’m idling. But won’t shift at all if im moving. What the heck is going on? It’s not the es motor reduction gears. Already checked that. Anyone else out there had this problem? Do I need to put my stock gears back in? Please help!
I recently bought a 03 trx 400ex that came with a twist throttle, I have tried to get use to but I just can’t …. So I’m taking off the twist and switching back to thumb, my question is: can I use the same cable from the twist throttle and just install the thumb throttle assembly to that cable already? Or I need to get the thumb cable aswell?
Last year I had some issues with dripping/leaking fuel, so I had the carburetor cleaned with a new needle kit. Everything was fine last fall and last used in June (about about 7 weeks ago).
It has been stored in the garage for 7 weeks, and when I went to start it, I am having issues. It fires and immediately stops. Eventually just quit firing completely.
So I have been checking the following:
1)fuel. It is good fuel, and was stabilized when putting in 7 weeks ago. Have about 1/2 tank right now.
2)double checked the fuel shut-off switch for either ON or RESERVE.
3)Checked the spark plug. Dry as a bone. After direct injecting a shot of gas, fires up right away for a couple seconds then dies.
4)Tried manually injecting fuel using the "cold weather" plunger. There doesn’t seem to be any resistance. Almost like there is no fuel.
5)no signs of leaking fuel anywhere.
Any ideas what I could try or what the problem might be? I am not mechanically inclined, so if I can’t figure out it will have to go the shop again. 🙁
I have a 2007 honda 400ex that has been sitting for about a few months without running. I recently rebuilt the carb and had it adjusted. Im experiencing a problem where it backfires only when it hits a certain rpm, but only in idle. When running through the gears and driving, it runs through the entire rpm range with no problems, no backfire or any hint of misfire. When it sits in neutral it also runs fine. Its only when I press the throttle it starts backfiring at a certain rpm. I took a video in case that might help. The backfires in the video are really quiet. They are actually REALLY loud bangs in person.
I have a 1986 honda 70 fourtrax that wont fire. The pulser resistance is abut 100 ohms. Can anyone tell me what voltage I should expect when I spin the flywheel. My fluke 86 digital meter reads some voltage dc and appears to be somewhere around .4 vdc or less.
Hello my fellow Honda riders. I’m in need of some opinions on what could be the problem with my quad. I recently went riding my quad at the local spot in my town. After a few hours of riding I stopped to take a break. When i went to start my quad I didn’t have any power. I noticed the led lights i had wired to my quad had melted so I came to the conclusion that the melted wiring sorted out my battery. I called the place I order a lot of my parts and gear from and explained what happened. I was tiled that is either my battery or my stator. They said to jump start my quad and remove the positive or negative wire from the battery and if it stayed running that it was my battery and that if it dies it was my stator. I did that, and according to the above i was given I determined it was the battery. I caked them back and ordered a new battery. I received the battery, charged it and then went riding a few days later. When I returned home I went to start it and it was dead again. I did the test on it that I was told to do the first time and figured it was the battery again. I’m needing advice on what else could be the problem. Is there anything else that might have shorted out when the led lights messed up electrical wise that could be the problem aside from the battery and stator. Any help is much appreciated
