Need help

Hey guys I need some help with my bound up chain. Being the dumbass that I am sometimes I decided to go riding knowing bearings are bad in rear end. Well sure enough the chain popped off and got bound up. How do I get this off without removing the swingarm?!?! Here’s a pic of the problem. It’s a 400ex

4trx 300 driving experience

so when I’m driving on a dirt road my 96 Honda fourtrax 300 4×4 front wheels sway side to side suddenly. I have to get a good grip on the handle bars no to loose control this at higher speeds.

Any thoughts? What would the issue be? What should I look into?

My 1984 200es threw a shoe

This puppy is my work horse. Running good (a bit of a back fire as of late when throttling down for a shift) until I crossed the creek the other day (live off the grid on a mining site), winched it up at a steep grade and continued on my way home (a couple of miles ) and got almost there then a drastic power loss and complete stoppage. Pushed it home and waited until the next day to tackle the problem. Got a spark off the plug but installed a new Champion but can’t get it to run/start without the thumb throttle at full. Back off and it dies and never will achieve a respectable RPM. Checked the fuel from tank and A-OK. I don’t mind buying a new carb, or whatever it needs. I have noticed a build up of sluggy oil/dust on the cyclinder housing below the head so thinking maybe a blown head gasket. Soooo….if it it’s a head gasket (which I’m leaning towards) I suppose maybe a complete re-build but I’d rather wait until winter for a project like that. I also am pondering a valve/timing problem but from running strong to gutless I tend to rule that out. What’da ya think????

2011 Honda Rubicon frame swap

Got a bit of a serious problem. Took some friends out riding a month ago, and one of them drove my 2011 Rubicon off a cliff and destroyed the frame. But the engine is fine. What other models and years can I swap the 500cc engine into that is "bolt in"? Haven’t gotten the machine back from the wrecking company yet, so don’t know what else is salvageable besides the engine yet. Should get it back this week. Thanks!

getting an ATV running that’s been sitting a LONG time

OK so you have or found an ATV that has been sitting a LONG time, months or yr’s
and want to get it running
these are MY basic suggestions for atv’s that LOOK like they RAN when parked! and were NOT sitting in the weather for yrs
one’s that were in weather or look BAD
there are some more things to do, BUT for a basic list, here is MY suggestions
folks feel free to add more or have better one’s than me!

the basic IMO are this
first drain the fuel tank, and clean the tank out, make sure the screen in tank is clean
next move down to the peacock valve
and MAKE sure that is clean and working correctly
make sure fuel flows thru it good and easy, on run and reserve
NEXT JUST REPLACE THE FUEL LINE to carb
it can be dirty and blocked or???
its cheap and easy to JUST replace

NEXT< get a carb rebuild kit, odds are after sitting for yrs or?? things went back from being dry or bad fuel

NOW clean carb GOOD, NOT just spray carb cleaner on it and say OK
that’s NOT a cleaned carb!

replace all parts with one’s from kit,
NEXT<
replace the air filter or CLEAN and re oil
I say REPLACE as most foam filters go back after yrs of sitting and as such, a new oen is a better idea , as NOW you pl;an to be using atv ? money well spent here

NEXT replace the spark plug
NOW drain the motor oil, and replace the oil filter
refill with CORRECT OIL and to CORRECT level, learn how to check oil level correctly
NOT all have to have dip stick screwed in, and NOT all just rest on top
READ HOW YOUR"S is supposed to be checked, and fill to correct level

NEXT< move to the front and rear diff’s (if its 4×4) and change the fluids there
AT this point ITS a GREAT idea to inspect wheel bearings, and look for signs of ANY axle bearing or diff bearings or?? for leaks,(AKA, build up of oil about them)
and correct them as needed here!
a worn bearing can lead to bigger repairs, SO< correct before that happens

NEXT will be a battery, your’s MIGHT be able to be saved, BUT odds are low, a battery left sitting Long can discharge past the point of NO return

TAKE BATTERY to an auto parts store and have it TESTED under a LOAD, they do this for FREE, and will tell you IF battery is GOOD , or BAD!
charge or replace as needed based on the Battery TEST !!

NOW< after you DO ALL this
get FRESH fuel and fill tank
check all fuses
check electric connection, make sure there not all corroded

MAKE sure kill switch is in RUN, and
THEN try starting it!
IF you take the time to do all the above
you will save yourself maybe a LOT of time wasted on fixing as NEW issue’s happen

there all pretty simple and cheap to do
NO reason to NOT do them

IF after doping these, issue’s are there, COME back and ask, folks here will help more, but KNOWING the above was done, saves a LOT of time for all!

NOW If atv again looks like its been beat or left in rain or weather for YRS
you will want to check inside of motor to make sure piston is moving freely and NOT rusted to hell

pull plug and look inside see what you se

you can for sure add a little oil and IF it has a manual kick/pull start SLOWLY kick/pull and turn motor SLOWLY and again LOOK for signs of rust build up
IF its rusty, IT means time to split cases and go deeper, before doing MORE damage than needed!

also make sure exhaust isn;’t plugged up from mice or???

SO< anyone else have any to add here??

Honda Rubicon spark plug problem

I purchased my 2013 Honda Rubicon 500 Feb. 2014 new. It was one of the left over 2013 models for the new year. When I first purchased it and the first oil change came up, its started missing, spitting and sputtering. I took it to the dealer ship and they said the spark plug had fouled. The would not cover it under warranty and the plug was $95. I thought they was trying to screw me but I looked up the plug and sure enough they are that high. Yesterday while working at my hunting lease. I went to pull out from a location and the atv just died. I tried starting it back up and it wouldn’t. Its like the plug had fouled again. I noticed a strong odor of gas so I looked at the carb, and there was gas coming from o hose that was on the top of the carb? When I normally park the atv, I turn the gas off. But this one time I turned the atv off for 10 minutes to do something, I did not turn the gas off. Any ideas? FYI this is the 3rd time this has happened to me, ive called Honda about this in the past. They don’t seem to interested on trying to figure out why this is happening. The last time I took it back to the dealer for this, they charged me 160 and said it was something I was doing. Any Ideas?

2006 Rancher 350 slow turnover

Hello all!!!

New to forum, searched but couldnt find an answer to my question….

2006 Rancher 350….Just had a carb kit put on, and the mechanic adjusted the valves. It runs, but turns over very slow when starting….even with battery charger connected…and also put a new battery on it. Could valve adjustment cause my issue? Acts like a new car motor with higher compression when starting….

Thanks for any info!!!

400ex not getting fuel to cylinder or past spark plug

I have a 440ex with the following Uni,velocity intake, 150main 42 pilot, 440 big bore and a dmc afterburner quiet exhaust. I was riding on the street the other day and I was braking from about 50mph 5th gear and just started dieing then it wouldn’t start without being pull started but then wouldn’t stay running at low speed. I got home and found that I was getting feel to the carb but pulled the plug and it was dry and not colored so put a new plug and nothing any help? Oh and I have no kill switch
