Need help with battery….how big do I need?

Hello. For a couple months now my 07 rancher has been hard to start after sitting a while (about a month, starter turns real slow). Once it runs, has not problem starting if within a week. Tried to start to day and wouldn’t turn over. Thought I had a dead battery, connected my charger (12 V car battery charger) and read 80% charged. 20 min later said 100% charged. Tried to start the bike. It started but than stalled. Was unable to restart.

Ok, assuming I have a bad battery. Not sure why my charger says its 80% charged when won’t turn over the starter. Unless you need a special battery charger for Motor Cycle batteries. Basically looks like my battery will not take a charge or takes a very small charge.

Regarding replacement, my battery is a YTX14-BS (bike is 400 cc). My Recon has a YTX12-BX battery. I purchased the bike used so have no idea what the correct size is for it (assume I don’t have the original battery for 2007, how long do these things last anyways).

Looking for guidance on what size and brand of I should use for replacement. Thinking the last couple of batteries I purchase for my automobiles were Autozone brand. Have never purchased a motor cycle battery before. Wish my rancher came with a pull start like my Recon.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Trx300 oil pump issue

Can someone help me out. Bike started making weird noises and clutch was ready to be replaced. So I took the clutch cover off and remove the clutches to find this. The broken gear came off the crank shaft. Looks like it only turned the oil pump.Any help or ideas how
I could replace the gear or replace the crank would be appreciated.

Hard Cold Starting 87 Foreman Trx350

I rebuilt a 87 Foreman TRX350 4×4 but still have trouble starting when cold.
Got fuel, spark, compression and spark plug is dark brown when trying to start. Running the plug turns light tan and runs fine. Is this hard cold starting normal for these older ATVs. There are not many 87 TRX350 around here to ask about this problem. I think the problem is with the cold fuel enrichment system but even the factory service manual doesn’t say much about its operation. It seems to want to start but doesn’t start when cold. Any help will be helpful. Doe anyone else have this problem on the older ATV models?

Thanks,
Sunny

03 440ex tick after rebuild. New parts so I’m lost

Just rebuilt my 400ex with a new 89mm piston (10:1) and a new jug. Adjusted the valve lash to stock specs with a HotCam Stage 2. Also has a FCR-39mm carb.

After firing it up the first time this is the noise it was making. I have read up and it shouldn’t be piston slap (new piston), timing chain seems to be good. Maybe go to .13mm/.15mm valve lash? Any ideas are appreciated. I know these all have a bit of top end noise but mine seems excessive. Really don’t want to blindly tear this whole thing down again…
