what chain oil if not an o-ring chain (has a standard motorcycle chain)
just apply oil, or is a chain cleaning necessary?
Are there any other fluids or filters to change on these bikes?
Bike was rebuilt in 2011/2012. Used just 2-3 times lightly until August this year. I used it every weekend for the last few weeks on trails and onroad. Chain still looks black and somewhat lubed, but not as lubed as a month or so ago.
Neutral seems a bit tricky to find. Sometimes it is two or three 1-2 shifts before hitting neutral.

I was riding for about 3 hours today and after taking another mile or so on the trail I decided to call it quits. It’s a darn good thing I stopped. I got my 2001 400ex back to the house and was washing the engine and noticed the pivot nut had fallen off and the bolt had worked itself about .75" out.
But I tapped the bolt back in and now I need a new nut.
The swing arm is RPM (was installed when I bought the quad) before I make a purchase I was wondering if this is the same nut as stock? The bolt side takes 17mm wrench…
The OEM nut says its 14mm, which might be the thread diameter?
OEM nut part#: 90305-GE8-003
Could I find a nut with the flat washer part attached at a hardware store and install that at the correct torque or is there something specific about this nut that must be OEM?
I run a 2014 Rancher (new body style) with 145 miles easy miles on it. I have noticed a light tapping sound from it lately but it doesn’t seem to increase as the RPMs go up. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with there machine? I have heard that thise machine has a fuel pump in the gas tank and thought maybe this was what I was hearing.Anyone have any insight?

I was riding my 2004 Honda foreman rubicon 500 (trx500fa) with hondamatic through a level field behind my house (I wasn’t hammering it or anything. I was being quiet and only going 10 mph) well anyway I was just cruising along and it literally popped out of gear and started to grind. So I put it in neutral real quick. The grinding stopped. I put it back into drive again and it seemed like it wanted to start going but it started grinding again. So I shut it off and pushed it home. the grinding seems to be coming from the transmission area. I think it has to do with the drive chain inside next to the cam chain. I just recently (last week) rebuilt the top end due to valve problems. the motor itself runs perfect and sounds perfect. I was just riding it a little when the above story happened. Any ideas what happened or what I need to look at to fix it? My friends dad know all about fixing engines and he has no idea. but he’s is going to help me fix it once I figure out what it is. the service manual has zero suggestions. I have a 2000 Rancher that dies when hot. After about 15 minutes it just dies and will not start back up. After a few minutes of trying to start it, it will backfire. Pulled the carb and gave it a good cleaning and put in a new Moose card kit. Starts and idles great when cold. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello all its been a while since I was on forum but I need a little advise on which way to go , Im working on a 2002 TRX 450 manual shift. First I will give you the info I got on it then what I have done.
I was told it was cutting out and would only idle and a few months ago the owner parked it because it was backfiring thru the exhaust .
This is what I found and repaired – carb crystalized up ( so I soaked it in cleaner and blew out ports and put a new kit in it , drained tank cause it had about two ounces of water in it , replaced the primer on the carb because diaphragm was dry-rotted , cleaned air filter ,replaced plug , set valves to spec ,cleaned out spark arrester on bottom of pipe also I have replaced the rectifier and cdi with a known good one from another bike.
Here is what its doing , engine cold it cranks with choke on and idles good , take choke off continues to idle good , start to get on throttle it cuts out a little bit / stalls then smoothes out until you get to WOT then it starts bogging down and will not go to full engine rev. let off throttle and it will idle smooth , after engine starts warming up is when it really starts getting crappy , after reaching what I call normal operating temp it want take any throttle backfires thru exhaust and intake , if you shut it off when hot it takes a long time to start again and you have to have choke on and it really backfires then thru exhaust cuts out /stalls and want take any throttle with out cutting off, its acting rich but I cant lean it out and I used oem parts in the carb. I have tried it with mixture jet almost closed to way to open and it didn’t help ( normal about 2.5 turns out )
Is it possible its lean when cold and rich after warming up ? I know it makes no sense at all , that’s when I decided to see if I could get any tech help. If you need any more info let me know, or need me to decipher this because it is confusing .

I just bought a 1984 Trx 200 and it will not start on the pull cord or electric. I am not familiar with these bikes and was wondering before I tear into her if any body knows any common issues that would cause this on this model bike. She has a new spark plug and oil was just changed.
