The starter in my 2012 TRX420FM seized due to the magnets in the stator shattering. The rest of the starter looks fine. The starter is a Mitsuba SM18. Does anyone know where I can buy just a stator or do I have to buy the whole starter? I haven’t been able to find one doing regular web searches.
I just got done replacing my front wheel bearings and there is still a grinding sound. I checked the front diff and if full of fluid. I’m thinking it my be the cv joints.
There’s no clanking sounds just what I would describe as a soft but loud grinding noise. Also my cv joints are not a ball type but rather an × lookin joint.
I recently picked up an 86 350 fourtrax for my son. Was not running at the time but motor had good compression. I brought it home and it has 2 issues that I know of. I hooked it up to a jump box and hit the starter button. Starter is engaging but will not spin the motor. When I kick start it, it only engages every few kicks. I got it running by pulling it behind another 4 wheeler. No smoke but could not keep it running. I’m thinking fuel pump issues as well. Is it worth messing with and what do you think could be wrong with it. Thanks in advance!
I have an 06 450er that as soon as you start it, it blows coolant out the overflow tube below the waterpump. Some people said maybe it was a bad headgasket, but id think that would overpressurize the cooling jacket and force out the radiator cap? Plus I pulled the topend off and headgasket and base gasket appeared fine, i am going to replace them now though. What could be the problem? theres corrosion on the impeller as seen in the pic below. so would that mean its not working properly? When i put an impact on the center 10mm nut it spins the motor over so how could it not be working correctly? thanks!
Also, does anyone know if the stator looks corroded at the one point? of is it normally look like that? thanks
I had to split the case on my non-reverse era 400EX to install a new crank. All went well, with the exception of the transmission, specifically the shift drum.
I tried following the Honda service manual, but the few pics they included did were grainy black & white, and they did not give much explanation to getting the shifter aligned with the drum correctly.
I got everything back together and took it on a test ride. 1st and 2nd shift fine, and most of the time 3rd was ok too. When I would go into 4th, sometimes it would go into neutral instead of 4th. I could downshift and try to upshift again, and occasionally I would get into 4th. Sometimes I would get a dead shift, where the shifter wouldnt want to click up at all.. I could downshift and then try to go up again to get it to work.
Before I break this thing down again, does anyone have better pics, or some advice as to getting the tranny back together correctly? How can I test it, so that I know things are aligned as they should be, BEFORE putting the top end and remaining lower end together?
Alright I picked up a big red (i have no idea of the year) its being temperamental and i dont know what it could be, i have a friend that rebuilds this things religiously and it has him baffled too i have no battery so i pull start it when it runs it runs like a top and will run all day long without any hickups lots of power no missing or farting but it is having a no spark issue for example yesterday i took it for a 3 hour ride through a bunch of trails we got to where we were going and i shut it off to have a fire and hotdog turn the killswitch back to run and it has spark for the first revolution then has nothing i’ve changed the spark plug multiple times same with the coil i even put a screw driver in the plug wire socket and had a friend turn it over for me it gives me one good shock and then no spark i originally figured wiring but once it runs it wont die it runs like a top any idea what this could be? it has some sketchy wiring and no key ignition, or battery but likewise with my 200 trike and it always runs great. stator? generator? input is greatly appreciated im stumped

So I had my son bring his 2014 foreman over for me to compare with mine. My 4wd went out when we tried to install a winch. So the 2014 when u turn the key switch on (not starting the 4 wheeler) and hit the 4wd button u hear a like engage noise in the "actuator"? Down near the drive shaft. But on the broken 2015 u turn switch on and hit 4wd button and no sound at all. Also I took the relay off the 2014 and tried it on tge broken bike 2015 and nothing. Then tried the 2015 relay on the good 2014 and the 4wd worked fine. So the relay is not the problem. Also when a volt meter is put on the orange wire (4wd wire) with key switch on it reads. When u hold the volt meter on the wire and hit 4wd button nothing happens in the meter but if u go another step and hit the differential lock button the voltage meter jumps or goes higher with its number. Does this help anyone with an idea of where I need to look next??? Cause I have no idea!!
