Hello I’m new here. Let me start from the beginning. I was riding along in 4th gear and came up on a mud hole, so I dropped down to 2nd. While waiting for others to catch up it shut off. No luck restarting, so I tried my starter spray. It would start and run for about 3 seconds. Got towed back. No fuel pump clicking after pressing start button , so I assume , it has to be fuel pump. I use starter spray to load on trailer, then to unload and put in garage. Test fuel pump with jump box, it does not run. Bought a new one and changed it out. Then the old one started to work when on jump box now, go figure. New one is clicking and pumping fuel. Bike will crank over but not start. So I use the starter spray, figure the new pump needs to prime, it runs as long as I keep spraying bursts every few seconds. Then it back fires LOUD. 2 or 3 times. Now won’t start even with spray. So I check for spark, there is none. So I buy a new coil, no luck. I buy a new CDI and still no spark. I’m not that upset, those were original parts( 27 years old) so I know I won’t need to worry about them now. I’m just at a loss now. Don’t want to just keep changing parts and hoping that’s it. Any help, thoughts?
I appreciate the add to the forum. I have gleaned countless information before ever joining. I am far from a mechanic, but this site has gotten me through several minor repairs and maintenance items.
I recently purchased a 2001 Honda Rubicon (Full-time 4×4). After a weekend ride in the mountains, I returned and noticed a popping/grinding sound in the front. I have isolated it to the front right somewhere between lower axle (outside end) and wheel. Putting it in neutral and rolling straight back and forth can produce the sound as well.
How should I begin to assess the cause further? I was assuming it was the CV joint and about to order/replace, but I thought I would get some advise before spending money.
Hello I am new to the forms. I have a 450 foreman es that will not rev up, it acts like it is hitting a rev limiter. I have put a new carburetor, new air, made sure the exhaust isn’t clogged, put fresh gas in it, and reset the valves. But it will not rev up, what could be my problem?
My 93 Honda 300 has problems shifting in low gears, mostly from reverse to neutral and 1st gear to neutral. It seems to be fine when it’s cold but when it warms up I have to shut off the wheeler shift it and then restart it. Any ideas as to what might be the problem? I just put a new drive and centrifugal clutch in last fall.
Hey guys I have a buddy wanting to flush his 02 Rubicon engine out. With this having the Hondamatic tranny would it be safe to flush it with regular motor oil or diesel???
Hey all – I just read through the sticky on my problem – clicking instead of starting. I replaced the battery about a year ago and it always jumps right off. But suddenly yesterday I just got the clicking.
I want to do the testing suggested in the sticky but need to know where to buy a new solenoid, if it turns out I need one. We have a motor sports repair place in town but the owner is a Class A1 ass, so I won’t ever go back to his shop.
I did notice that the wire/cable coming from the battery is frayed – could be the mice that chew on everything here and build condos under the seat through the fall and winter.
Also, the ATV was a gift so I don’t really know what the model or year is. Its a red honda. Is there a serial number look up?
Just picked up a 2000 trx 90 and has no spark. There is a yellow wiring on the left of the machine and its not connected to anything. It has power going to it when i pull start it. Any idea what it might go to? Dont see anywhere to connect it to?? Thanks
I recently got a 1985 trx200. It fires up first pull, runs a few minutes and dies. Any suggestions? When I ride it, it feels really bogged down after a min or two

I have a 2001 trx 250 recon and have had the main jet fall out twice now. first after i did a carb clean, it fell out after maybe ten minutes of just riding up and down the street. didnt know what was wrong at first (bogging down beyond 1/4 throttle) until i took apart the carb and noticed that it was completely unscrewed. this time i made sure it was tight and just did about 30 minutes in the woods and it happened again. same problem. is there a way to ensure this thing stays in ? is lock tight a bad idea?
