Anti freeze

Can you run regular car anti freeze in a quad or not? Also manual says to bleed the system. Run with cap off for 5 mins, and when level drops top off system place cap back on and your done. I run till it starts circulating, and spitting out the top, but never see the level drop?

Recon electrical problems

I recently picked up a 2007 Honda recon for my daughter and it has some electrical issues involving the lights. The headlights only come on when stepping on the brake pedal. As soon as you let off the pedal, they go off. The brake lights only work with that pedal as well. Neither front brake handle will make the brake light come on, only the pedal.

Electrical is not my strong suit and I don’t even know where to start.

Barn Find: ’91 Fourtrax 250X – Rough Idle

I just purchased a ’91 Fourtrax 250X in 100% original, very good shape.

It’s idling kinda rough though, once warm it chokes and shuts down, and I have to start it with the throttle wide open, otherwise it doesn’t start.

Does this look like an easy fix like cleaning with carb spray or Seafoaming it? Or does this look like a more complicated fix? I know a tune up is in order, just need to know what to focus on.

Honda 650 flashing 4×4 and gear light

Ok guys so I finally rode my 650 rincon after a lot of time and money in it. I like it alot! But it has a problem I need to figure out. When I’m driving down the road like a block or 2 the gear light and 4×4 light starts blinking and won’t let me shift out of gear or anything I turn the key off and on and it’s ok for another block or 2. In the woods it doesn’t do it. Anyone know what’s up? Thanks

New member and 2003 Rancher 350 4×4 ES Shifting problems

New member in Louisville Ky. Never owned an ATV, but I have 2 motorcycles and do my own service and repairs.

Sorry for the long post.

I purchase the 2003 Rancher from my neighbor, it had the shifting problem and he no longer wanted it. he had already replaced the angle sensor and the shift motor.

I test rode the machine using the emergency shift lever. It shifted into all gears, and the display correctly showed the what gear the trans was in.

I am in the process of diagnosing the problem. First it has a fault code of 3 on the display. I used the service manual flow chart, and started testing at the ECM connector. I had an open connection at the connector Black/Red and the Blue/Green wires. Manual calls from 4-6 k ohms.

Pull the connector off the angle sensor. Wire check good between the connectors. Found that the new angle sensor was open at all the terminals.
I had the original sensor the neighbor had changed and checked it. It had the correct ohm readings, but it would swing wildly on the analog meter while you turned it. Plugged the old sensor in to test the wires, and got the correct ohm reading at the ECM plug.

Went to the local Honda dealer this morning. Asked for a new angle sensor. I took my meter to check it before I left the store. He said I could test it, and when I did, it checked open just like the first replacement sensor.

They had a mechanic come out, and he could not get it to read on his meter either. They had 3 of them in stock, and they all checked open. The sensor shaft will turn 360 degrees on the questionable sensors. But on the original sensor it only rotates about 180 degrees before it hits a stop.

So, I have to wait until Tuesday to get some information. The parts manager is calling the factory to see what is going on. Once I get a good sensor, I will dissect the bad one to see what is wrong inside.

I don’t really need any questions answered yet, because I can’t do further testing without a good angle sensor. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up about a possible angle switch problem.

2006 Trx350fe es problem

I know this has been done to death but I need help and can’t find what I’m after so this bike would go into reverse then sometimes let me go up the gears 9 times out 10 it wouldn’t it was moving the part that u put the manual shifter on but it wasn’t going into gear reverse no problem so…… I stripped and cleaned the shifter motor removed brushes etc then I replaced the angle sensor and it still did this then……I then adjusted the clutch it then wouldn’t come out of 1st gear stuck it took a bit of playing about with the manual lever to get it into neutral i then did clutch adjustment again and bit did about 5 km then I reversed and went to go forward and it started flashing the "n"3 times I then readjusted the clutch see if that would help still blinking 3 times constant …. So I have disconnected battery and ecu for couple hours then I will connect them again and I will press both up down buttons for 30 seconds to clear the error but I’ve a feeling it’s still gonna be the Same problem anyone any idea what’s wrong with this bike?????

Ohh and it shifts up down gears with manual shifter no problem

1988 trx350d no spark

Hello I’m new here. Let me start from the beginning. I was riding along in 4th gear and came up on a mud hole, so I dropped down to 2nd. While waiting for others to catch up it shut off. No luck restarting, so I tried my starter spray. It would start and run for about 3 seconds. Got towed back. No fuel pump clicking after pressing start button , so I assume , it has to be fuel pump. I use starter spray to load on trailer, then to unload and put in garage. Test fuel pump with jump box, it does not run. Bought a new one and changed it out. Then the old one started to work when on jump box now, go figure. New one is clicking and pumping fuel. Bike will crank over but not start. So I use the starter spray, figure the new pump needs to prime, it runs as long as I keep spraying bursts every few seconds. Then it back fires LOUD. 2 or 3 times. Now won’t start even with spray. So I check for spark, there is none. So I buy a new coil, no luck. I buy a new CDI and still no spark. I’m not that upset, those were original parts( 27 years old) so I know I won’t need to worry about them now. I’m just at a loss now. Don’t want to just keep changing parts and hoping that’s it. Any help, thoughts?
