Hello, I have a 2004 400ex that ran fine. I even had it running today, granted I had to push start it because the battery was dead. Which leads into the next part, I had it running turned it off to charge the battery (I Had left the keys in and lights on for a little to long the night before 🙁 ) came back a few hours later tried to start it heard a couple of pops than the starter just kept turning and turning without anything from the engine. It wasn’t even try to turn over. So, I tried to push start it again and got nothing. The only thing that happened was what seemed like a puff of air that came from the air filter box and exhaust. I’m not a technician at all, I rarely ever do anything outside of changing oil/brakes and what not on my quads. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJI5B-XS5Gg theres a viedo of whats it’s doing

Ok guys I posted on here a week or so ago with a poor running rancher. Basically I am getting fuel, I am getting Fire, I have good compression, and my valves are adjusted properly. But It WILL NOT run. I had a friend check it out (used to work a dealership but doesnt work on much anymore) and he seems to think that it was something electronic or something with timing. I took it to my local honda dealership and he went on about how it was out of time as well and probably had a timing chain loose or break or something, he never mentioned electronics and since I had the floor boards off and it has a snorkel kit he would not work on it. It has been pointed out to me and does look like the engine has been in to before.
I have done a top end on a rincon before so I am hoping I can do this fix myself, Simply put I cannot afford for someone else to do it for me so I am here for help. Pulling the motor and checking the timing chain sound like the right track to take? I have no idea where to begin so I am hoping one of the veterans will help out a youngster here that has most likely been shafted by the previous owner of this machine.
