2002 Rubicon Speed Sensor Code

I am having some issues with my 2002 Rubicon. I bought it used a few months ago and it was working fine but several weeks ago it quit working on me. The engine runs fine and revs. It attempts to move but barely rolls then throws a code 2, the speed sensor. I have cleared the code and it consistently shows that code. I have checked connections and to me it doesn’t make sense that a bad speed sensor would cause it to act this way. Has anyone else had something similar or at least know where I ought to be looking?

96 trx300 spark issue

Hello, I have a spark issue now. I was working on my neutral light problem. I found that the previous owner had removed the connection from the engine and the the diode was not working. I have a diode on order from the dealer. I wired the neutral connection to the engine and put the wiring harness back together. I tried to start the bike with the diode jumpered and discovered I now have no spark. Well I have spark but it only sparks when the started stops or I switch the kill switch on and off when cranking. I changed the spark plug and have 12 volts going to the cdi on the 2 prong connection, black with white stripe. Any help with the next things to check would be great. In the summer I was starting it with the kick start first kick. Just needs a few more kicks in the winter so I tried to get the starter working. Thanks.

Starter spins but doesn’t turn motor.

Replaced starter (dumb) before researching, same problem (anyone want a good used starter let me know).

Regarding replacing the starter clutch, that is a major job and per FSM engine has to come out.

My question, this ATV doesn’t have the pull-start. If i installed recoil/pull-start I am assuming (???) engine would still pull-over with bad starter/aka "one-way" clutch. Can someone confirm this?

Anyone starting their 420 regularly with a pull-start? What sort of PITA is that to deal with? this is the teenagers machine so he can deal with the muscle side of this.

FInally, i searched forum and youtube and do NOT see than anyone has documented the tear-down of the 420 4×4 for this sort of repair. If there is a thread title or youtube link i missed please post.

Piston and cylinder were in good shape. I change the piston rings, valve springs, seals, etc. After that it was running very good, besides a little winning sound after shutdown…

But yesterday an engine ticking sound started slowly. It is now pretty easy to hear it. Never heard a bad one way bearing, but it sounded like the valves. So I went to readjust the valves, but the the pull start is now turning without engaging (it was before). The electric starter still works fine.

Could the ticking sound and the pull start not working problems be related??

whats the best way to free a stuck clutch big red 250

Hi everyone
this is my first post on this board so not sure if this is where this post should be so,,,,,
I just got an old Honda Big Red 3 wheeler going the other day and I noticed the clutch is stuck.
it shifts but you can feel the clutch is stuck.
seems like I remember from and old Gold Wing I had years ago you can just drive the thing until it pops loose .
are there any tricks anyone knows to help it along so I don’t Damage my gears to much?

honda trx300fw 1995 ticking noise

hi there , i have a 95 trx 300 which had sat for a while , cleaned the carb out and it starts first time , however when reving it will only rev to half revs and is also making a ticking noise which isn’t promising but it not as bad as a bottom end knock i think , it has been said it could be tappets or timing but the half revs issue worries me , i would be very grateful if anybody else has experienced this and any advice welcome , many thanks sam:smile:

Aftermarket Parts question on non-Honda build

I have a Polaris 250 2 stroke I am doing a top end on. I know it is not a Honda, but I uave been waiting for a month to get my account activated at the Polaris ATV Forum and have given up on that, so I am hitting you guys up. I am doing a top end on the thing, and am probably going to have to bore and buy a piston. I have found a Namura kit and a Wiseco kit. The Wiseco is more expensive, but I am wondering if it is worth the extra expense? If it is good quality I would obviously prefer the Namura kit and savings.

2008 TRX420 Rancher ES

Hey Guys,

I have a quad here that the electric shift stopped working all of a sudden. Quad starts and runs fine and I can shift it manually in all gears. The tac reads which gear I’m in as I shift it manually. It flashes 8 times on the tac. I have taken off the angle sensor and checked the resistance and it looks like its within spec. I have checked continuity on the ecm plug from the gear shift switches and everything seems fine. Have also checked continuity to the shift motor and all checks out good. Checked to see if I can get any voltage down to the motor when I press the shift switches and nothing. Not sure where to go from here. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
