Exhaust fire 850 XP

I have a 2014 Sportsman 850 XP has anyone else had problems with grass getting between the muffler and the guard and drying out and catching fire.I had a 2011 850 XP that burned up the fire started at the back I thought it was electrical but now I’m starting to think it was the exhaust. yesterday while riding smoke was seen coming from my exhaust and it turns out to be dried grass.

10 850 sportsman clutch issue

I am new to this forum, I just bought a 2010 850 xp, when it warms up it seems the belt is to tight. it will back shift so hard it will drag the tires. Also when it is warmed up it will put so much pressure on the flywheel is scrapes the starter, and if you run it in park or nuetral, rev up the engine it will kill the motor when the rpm’s come down to an idle. I took the primary clutch apart and found no wear or damage. It acts like the belt deflection is just to tight. The belt looks to be in good shape. the machine has 1200 miles on it. Any suggestions would be great.

28″ ITP Mega Mayhems

Hey guys.

I just got offered a pretty good deal on a set of 4-28" MM’s and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them on a 850xp. From what I have read they seem to be a pretty decent tire, especially for all the muskeg and mud holes that I come across during hunting season. Also, would I need to get a clutch kit for them as they seem to be fairly heavier than the stock 26’s I am currently using. Thanks! :biglaugh:

Polaris Lock and Ride windshield sale

Well, I do not know if any of you need a windshield or not, but I was looking at Polaris’ website and the Lock and Ride windshield 2878392 is currently 25% off which takes it from $130 to $97.50. If you go and look for that part number on Ebay it will come up with that price, free shipping, and at least for Texas no tax.

Just thought I would pass it along if anyone needs a windshield, it’s a pretty good price. I just ordered one even though I will not really need it until fall… :werd:

Loose Rear Bushing

I was riding my 2013 850 XP the other day and something didn’t feel right. I rode it for about an hour and loaded it up to take it home and I noticed one of the upper rear bushing bolts was loose. I just greased it a week before and didn’t notice anything loose. I tightened it up and I think everything is fine but should I take it to the dealer to have that bushing replaced? Anyone had any problems like this before?

Question about acceptable suspension sag and spring upgrades

Hi Guys
I bought my 2011 850 xp with 400 miles from a guy that weighs about 400 pounds, is it possible that the springs are shot already?
The reason I ask is I am on the 3rd from the top preload and the sag is at least 3-4 inches in the rear and 2 inches in the front. I dont want to crank them up and get a rough ride in order to get my clearance back.
Should I crank them up or replace them and if so which springs to do you recommend?

Thanks
