Installed Ricochete A arm guards/axle

Rainey and crappy so cashed in on free time to get the new A arm guards installed front/rear and replace the bad front left axle due to not enough factory protection for what we do riding wise, we bust a lot of trails on virgin ground and I decided to nickname this POS "Dozer" from now on just because I’m the lead monkey forcing a path into the unknown…and seeing factory protection wasn’t enough for the axles 🙂

Axle install, straight forward, had maybe 30 minutes involved and it was done, so I’ll see how the East Lake axle holds up…stock anemic 550 and "factory sized" big horns without much deep muck riding so if they’re on par with OEM I don’t expect a break, but I just hope that company knows how to clamp the CV boot clamps properly, which is what ate up the front outter, that boot clamp SLIDE off and allowed water/grime in there. I have another on the rear right I found after ride a ride inspection, it too had a clamp SLIDE off, hose clamped it for now, but then found a hole the other day so going to have to deal with that soon too. So hopefully better installed boot clamps and protection from getting stabbed with sticks/branches in the future too.

The a arm guards, quick and simple to install, LOADS more protection for the front, and since rear had nothing, obviously anything is better than nothing:) I will say I was disappointed in their hardware. They use what looks like imported Torx button head bolts and they are SHALLOW….so barely any bite when you put your T bit onto your socket to tighten and loosen them. I just threw away the replacement bolts for the front a arm they send and reused the factory Polaris 10mm bolt for the front/single location per a arm guard. I stripped the head out of that Chinese POS bolt before it was even tight, which I was expecting, so shit can that, reused the OEM bolt. Maybe they could upgrade bolts, but I’m betting they get lots of 10,000 for $1 so don’t see it happening, but it needs to be noted and I expect after some riding I’ll have to cut the bigger bolts out since they will undoubtedly sieze in the conduit clamps that hold them to the machine and strip before breaking loose.

Anyhow, happy with the added protection and that’s what matters. Good solid protection, and they do a nice job bending them up to fit great.

VIPER MAX vs. VIPER ELITE winch differences

Hey Gang,
One of the most common questions we get relates to the differences between our VIPER MAX and VIPER ELITE series of winches, and which one is right for you.

Our lead tech, Caleb, created a new video describing some of the main differences for help.

Out of our thousands of MAX and ELITE winches sold each year, I would say it’s about 60% MAX and 40% ELITE.

Hope this helps. And, again, thanks for the great support of our VIPER winches!

Getting a new 14 850, need tire help

Just upgraded from my 2005 Sportsman 800 to a 15 Sportsman SP 850. Before I even ride the machine im not happy with the tires, my old sportsman had more lug after 1000 miles than these do new. I like the ITP Blackwater evolutions these seem like a tire that fits my needs of all purpose riding. They only come in 27" tall with that rub? Will that bog the atv down from a stock 26"

Id like to possibly get the 27 x 9 x 14" up front and 27 x 11 x 14" in the rear on STOCK wheels. But would get aftermarket if I have to, just don’t want them sticking out too far past the fenders, just an inch or so is good. Id prefer a 12" rim but heard they wont fit, ill try my RZR 900 XP wheels tomorrow anyway.

Adding Radiator Relocation Kit

So afetr a few ride this past month and the results of some from last fall, even some minor mud seems to plug up the radiator. im usually riding in big groups, which doesnt help when its dusty. As most have probably seen i have the RotoPax 2+2 Setup on my front L&R Box, and i dont want to sacrafice that if i can help it.

Iv’e been doing some searching and im thinking that i can mount the Polaris Front Rack extender with the Pax in place, and possibly hinge a Reloaction setup so that i can still use them, and also allow the Relocate to work to my advantage. I would need to fabricate a rear bracket and use a set of wingnuts, or some sort of tool-less fastener for ease of use.

Any thought or opinions on this?

Frame differences 2014/2013

I’ve got a 2014 sportsman 850 that has some frame damage, I’d like to replace the frame with a used one but am finding that the 2013 and 2012 had a different part number that is superceded by the 2014 part number. Anyone know if I’ll be able to use the 2013/2012 frame?

rockcrusher portal lift

is anyone here running rock crusher lift kit here
I have been wondering if the gear reduction acually helps being able to pull wheelies even if running a 32 inch tire
my friends canam makes me sick cause he can kick front end up near bout whenever he wants to
oh and on 850 what will be the biggest tire i could run on it with the lift

timing mark on crank not there &%$/”!!

My 2010 850xp was starting hard and idling rough so I decided to see if the timing gear slipped on crank. I can clearly see the black mark on gear but nothing on crank. The bike will run so both marks should show. I turned crank over many times and no luck. Do the marks come off and are there marks elsewhere.
Compression is down a bit but within 10% of each other. 210psi. I didn`t have the right size threaded end for the tester so I used the rod and rubber tip that comes with it and simply pressed it to spark plug hole which may be giving a lower reading.
I am booked in to get computer read and my dealer says it is probably Tmap sensor. I have also read that the computer can also tell if the timing is off. Is that true. Before it goes in to the shop I wanted to clean all sensor conections, check valve lash and test IAC with ohm meter. Anything else I`m missing
The video shows mark best because the glare from light looks like a mark.
