Well at 1200 miles my ball joints finally have a tiny bit of play. They are not at the point where I need to change them, but I was pricing out replacements just to check out the cost.
I ran upon "American Star" brand replacement ball joints on ebay and was wondering if anyone has used them before.
My local dealer wants $71 for Polaris brand and $47 for All Balls. That is each.
The American Star is a set of 4 shipped for around $120.
As you can see, I had a pretty expensive weekend!! I would like to attempt to repair this myself if possible but i need a little help. If someone could send me the link to a video that shows how to remove/repair/re-install the front diff. or has a service manual that shows me what to do i would REALLY appreciate the help. And judging by all the other posts on the forum from guys with the same issue, I’m sure a lot more people could use the help as well!!
So I posted a while back that I had some play in my back left wheel and that the back left wheel was kind of towed in at the bottom. Well after replacing all the bushing and wheel bearing thinking that was the problem I have discovered I have bent my frame. Changing the bushing fixed all the play in the rear but wheel still towed in. So my question is, how common is it to bend the frame on thee units? I don’t jump it, but I did hit something pretty hard during the winter that ripped of my skid plate
Just installed a DP850-12 on my wife’s 850 sportsman and am very disappointed.
Engagement rpm is high and jerky and there’s no improvement in wheelie ability,
Is a 2013 with 1100 miles. 27 inch Interco reptiles, no other mods.
Kit came with orange/grey secondary spring. Orange primary spring and I used end aluminum rivet and one long grub screw in the adjustable weights, just like the instructions said. It has a brand new belt, so it’s not a worn belt.
I see so many XP’s wheeling at will.. What gives???
What’s wrong ?? Attachment 26616
I have a front extender rack if anyone is interesting in buying. BUT, it will not fit if you have the storage box in the front. It retails for $100. Best offer!!!
I have a 09 550 that had awful clutch engagement. I recently put the silver EPI spring in, which made a huge difference in engagement, but now it shifts kinda hard. It "jumps" a little when you shift. So im thinking if I could get my idle down to where the newer ones are it should help with the shifting. Mine idles at 1670 – 1700. I see the new ones idle at 1475 or so. Could a dealer lower my idle?? Thanks..
This is my first time posting mostly just enjoy the threads and good place to pick up technical data but I am stumped this time. I have a 2012 sportsman 850 EPS with 1300km on it (for the American friends 809 miles). I purchased it second hand last summer with 600km (372 miles). So the issues I am having first was 3234767 Asm., Switch Shaft decided to grenade locking me in lo range. took apart replaced added new fluids put everything back together perfect ran great. Next came the all so famous TPS code 520194 – 7 dealer inspected replaced the TPS sensor and set it. Start quad up now throwing code 51-3 TPS voltage to high as well as 102 – 2 Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor and now throwing 520194-7 again. All sensors were replaced the first go around and to top it all off shifting became increasingly harder and now it is stuck once again in high range now. To note the belt was recently replaced and the old one had normal wear on it and clutches were checked for proper shimming etc. So if anyone has any thoughts on this it would be greatly appreciated as I do love my 850 but if this keeps up there will be a outlander 1000 with my name on it.
Does anyone know if you can put one off a RZR 900 on a Sportsman 850XP the wires look the same 3 yellow going to a flat plug and a single red and black. The only difference I see is that the one for the 900 would have to be extended do to the yellow wires aren’t long enough. The reason I ask is because I have a brand new 900 regulator on the shelf I hate to order a 850 regulator if I can make this on work by extending the yellow wires a foot.
