Guys, sorry to ask I tried searching pretty extensively before posting, but has anyone got the glacier 1 system to work on the XP chassis (specifically 2010 Sportsman 550 x2)? What I found wasn’t really conclusive answers.
I have a brand new unused glacier 1 system from a previous atv and from everything I read it was a good and robust system where some people were having weld issues or bent tubes etc on the glacier II or III. Plus if I can save a few bucks because I already have it, even better.
I usually keep my throttle body pretty clean but I have been lacking here lately. I took it off my 550 this morning and gave it a good cleaning with throttle body cleaner. Still amazed at how much crud can get past the filter. It has been a couple of years since I have done it and it was pretty darn dirty. If you ride it dusty conditions give it a good cleaning every once in a while.
After reading the forums (and personal experience) it appears some 2010 machines don’t have harsh engagement and some do. My wife’s was built in Nov. of ’09 and has what I’d call severe clutch engagement while my buddy’s was built in Jan of ’10 and is nice and smooth.
Anyone know what they changed to the clutching in that time frame to make it smoother?
What build date is yours and does it engage smoothly or harshly?
Anyone ever heard of or used Emgo oil filters. I was at a local recreation shop this weekend and picked up some amsoil 0w40 and a filter for my 850 and he gave me an Emgo brand filter. I have never seen these or heard of them before.

Hello! My 2014 Sportsman 850 is giving me a single, loud click when I turn the key…also a noticeable click from the starter relay in the fuse box. The battery is fully charged, and there is full power to the display and lights. Where are the solenoid and starter located on these vehicles so I can test them with a voltmeter? Are there any fuses attached to the solenoid or starter? Also, any thoughts on this issue would be appreciated. Thanks!
I started having an issue with my X2 last weekend. I noticed a couple times starting it stumbled a bit while starting, but it ran flawlessly. We rode about a hundred miles Monday, and when we got back to camp, it would crank and not fire unless you gave it some throttle (EFI engine remember) The Air filter is new, the fuel pump sounds good but I had no way to actually check the pressure. Once its running, it runs flawlessly, and there is no noise that it hasn’t had since new, I have a pretty good ear for these things.
Being I have to press the throttle to get it to fire, it makes me think there is an intake valve issue as some have reported in the past (That I have been quick to defend Polaris on lol)
I have 150-200 rpm on the tach while cranking which should be more than enough.
Going to pull the rocker cover this weekend and check lash, any body have any other thoughts?
Hi guys! I have a 2010 850xp and long story short, it needs a crank and crankcase, new @ around $1800. Well, I found a used 2014 850xp motor and I assume it’s an HO for $2300. I called the dealer and they said that it would fit on the 2010 chassis, but they’ve been wrong before.
I was wondering if anyone on here has dealt with this issue or know for sure if the 2014 engine will fit. Appreciate any info!
