Ok, I finally got my Sportsman 850 back from the dealer with a new front diff to replace the one I busted in the snow.
Dealer tells me that Polaris warrantied the part out of "good faith" but would not warranty it again. They said it was "impossible" that it broke the way I said it broke. I don’t know about impossible, but I dang sure know how it broke and it shouldn’t have. (I was cutting donuts on my icy driveway in 2wd and the front diff busted) I can’t explain it either, but that’s how it happened. I don’t know if 4wd had never fully disengaged or what, but it sure has heck broke.
Now, is this dealer full of crap, or would and could Polaris try to pull this stunt, even though I purchased the extended warranty?
I am picking my "new to me" 2008 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI Browning Edition this weekend and want to do a fluid change on everything. I’m hoping I can get some direction on what fluids I can use instead of the Polaris ones as I don’t like paying a premium for this stuff. I’m looking for fluid suggestions for the following:
1) Front Gear Case
2) Engine Oil (I’m leaning towards Rotella T6)
3) Grease ( Leaning towards Lucas Red ‘N Tacky)
4) Transmission
5) Radiator
6) Am I missing anything?

Hello all. I have a 2011 sportsman 500 HO. I modded the stock muffler(which I now hate) added a K&N air filter, rejetted the carburetor, and changed the spark plug. Now when I go thru deep enough water to just possibly come over the floor boards and sometimes not even that deep it will start cutting out and barely make it through. I put dielectric grease in the spark plug wire and it still does it. Any ideas on what it could be?
Okay I just rebuilt my front differential on my 2002 sportsman 700 and got done putting everything back together and have some fluid to fill it with and I do not see a fill plug anywhere on it??? Does anyone know where it is??????
I am putting a 2" lift on my sportsman and not seeing a way to get the cv boot to strut clearance needed. I have ground quite a bit of the strut off already, but just not seeing it being possible to grind enough off. Has everyone that has put a lift on these older models been able to alleviate this issue or am I not the only one?
Was wanting to put 28" mega mayhems on it since this is kind of my beater, but am rethinking this at this point.
I just picked up a Sportsman 300 for my son and have a few questions. What kind / size tires should I get for him. We trail ride mostly with occasional mud. Well he loves mud. Also do they make A-arm guards for the 300. Do they have a bumper for the front of the quad. This is our first Polaris and I am not familiar with this brand. Thank you!
I got a 06 sportsman 800 efi, whenever i turn either direction dont matter if im at a idle or moving, my rpms rev up. Ive read that it could be the points in the awd switch, but it doesnt idle bad some im thinking it could be a bad cable or need to loosen the cable up some. It seems to be kind of a common thing, but not a 100%. If anyone could give me a few tips or ideas that would be great!! Thanks!
