Hey all, I’m new here, and I just got a 2003 Sportsman 700.
I’ve done some searching the forum and the web to no avail. I just got it running again, but the shifter won’t move at all.
I’ve taken the cover off behind the shift linkage and checked the gears behind. The lockout (from brake) was rusted in the disengaged position, so I worked it free and put anti-sieze lubricant over it all before reassembling. I’d like to not have to go through the entire transmission removal procedure if I can avoid it.
Not sure if anyone else has had a similar issue, and if so, perhaps, there is a way to get the shifter to move out of Neutral that I’m missing. I’m a motorcycle mechanic, so I’m pretty savvy with this stuff usually, but I just have no knowledge of this machine.
I’d be willing to bet that there is someone on the fourm that has had this same problem. Got a new regulator and it came with no wiring dirgram. Its got the same # of wires. Red….Brown….those two were easy. BUT the yellow ones are the problem child. The old one has (1) wire w/ yellow/red………and (2) with ONLY yellow. THE NEW ONE……..has (1) w/ yellow ……….and (2) with yellow/red. My thinking is that (on the NEW one) that the single yellow matches up with the OLD ones yellow/red. Can anyone comment on this. It came from "Mikes"
Looking at replacing my tie rods and I was wondering what brand was the best. I’m not really wanting OEM because I want something a little better quality and the reviews I read on All Balls tie rods weren’t that great. Anyone have any suggestions on some good aftermarket tie rods with ends?? TIA
I finally have some time to work on my machine, I have an issue with my shifter being really loose and sloppy. 04 sportsman 700 efi. When I try shift it is hard to find gears because the shifter moves so easily. I had a sportsman before this one and it wasn’t like this. Where do I start in diagnosing this and fixing?
Hey guys I have a 2001 Polaris sportsman 500 ho and just tonight while plowing the wheeler shut off on me while reeling in the winch. Didn’t wanna start right away, so let it sit for 5 minutes and started back up. Ever since then the winch has been reeling in VERY… Slow and sometimes not at all… Is this a sign the winch is going bad?
