I have an 04 500ho and when I first start it up to move it out of the garage, when turning sharp right it kills all power speedo lights go out and the key does nothing! I straighten the bars back, and then it will start back up ???!?? Anybody have an idea where to start looking for the problem? Thanks.

So after ten years of this machine sitting in the garage, it’s finally gonna be put into service. It was my wifes machine. She drove it twice. I have changed the oil a couple times and replace the fuel pump just because it sat for so long. I am now selling my 02 and gonna start setting this up as my hunting rig. One question I have is, what is there for accessories for these metal rails on the front lid and rear rack? I’m gonna put a box on the back rack but I haven’t seen anything for these before. Never needed to. I know it’s pre lock and ride.
I would really like a rack extender on the front but I’m not sure if they made one to go on the front storage lid. :hmmm:
BTW 250 miles. Crazy I know.

Here’s the deal… I’m a first time atv buyer and have been studying hard all aspects of buying and evaluating these things for a used purchase. Now after months of looking everywhere I finally found a local private seller through word of mouth that may be offering a hell of a deal. Story is…

Guy’s got a 2012 Yamaha Griz 550 w/ EPS with 2900 miles and 250 hours on it and hes asking $4900. Says he got it from NPA? in Cincinnati for $4400 and paid $125 to ship it. After new tires, brakes and oil he says he’s got $5000 into it coming from a dealer-only wholesale auction. I’ve only got $4500 to spend and really stressed that and he says he’ll sell it to me if the guy coming on Friday doesn’t pay the full $4900 price he’s asking.

So yeah fairly excited about the prospects here. This one blue books for something like $5500-$5800 retail.

But I’m still a little too wet behind the ears still to be confident about evaluating these things used so I’m cramming as much info as I can before I go take a look at it. So don’t want to get burned.

So couple questions…

1- I’ve seen some with more and less miles than the 2900 this one has. But have been taught it’s not so much the mileage as how they were put on. Anyone have insight about this specific model with almost 3000 miles and 250 hours on it?

2- Are there any special problems the 2012 550 EPS Griz has that I should be looking out for?

I have a late model 04-05 Sportsman 700 EFI. 500miles and like 50hrs on it.

Been battling this issue since it started suddenly last Sept while me and my dad were on the HMT in WV! I’m a technician by trade, BMW. I can’t figure this out!

The gear display is acting funky, it jumps around sporatically. Sometimes sitting still. Here lately is been sitting in park, even while riding. It jumps all around. Then all of a sudden it starts spitting and spuddering. I’ve figured out that when it happens I can hit the reverse override button and it goes away and runs fine. Let go of it and it will happen again. It’s like the machine thinks it’s in reverse.

I’ve replaced the TBAP sensor and the fuel pump. Thinking that was the issue, before I figured out the hitting g the reverse over ride makes it stop.

I replaced the gear selector resistor pack with OEM part.

I happen to have access to another 05 700efi. I’ve swapped gear selector switches, ECM, and the speedometer.

I’m at a complete loss. Wiring issue? What am I missing?

I noticed my speedometer is sometimes jumping all over when ideling in park. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and could give me a pointer on what to look for. I did look around at connections, and didn’t notice anything.

This is an efi system will start sometime and not others. What am mean will not start will just click starter. Checked starter it is fine. The efi box seems to be working also. My concern is the silver box under front rack. How do you check it to see if working properly or can you any help would be great full thanks in advance
