Shock Bushings?

Just picked up a 98 Sportsman 500 and I am starting to work my way over it doing all the normal checks and maintenance. I noticed that the rear shock bushings are totally worn or just gone all together. I did some searching and can’t find replacements, any help would be appreciated. I am also looking for a replacement air box because all but three of the lid bolts are broken off so the lid is not secure or sealed.

Winch compatible? 07 Sportsman 500

I have an 07 Sportsman 500 EFI Deluxe with no winch. I found a cheap used Polaris brand winch and mount taken off an 09 Sportsman 500 x2. It is a 3500 winch with synthetic cable. It looks like it would fit, is there some reason its not compatible or would this work on my machine?

It seems like this would be compatible with my 07, but I cant find it anywhere online. I may be wrong but it seems like the 05 through 10 models are compatible with each other.

US Cargo Rail System

Recently I have been looking for a better way than tie downs which tend to get loose on long drives. I had been talking to Bobx2 and he uses the rail system. I bought and installed the system I got from US Cargo and love it. I installed it on a trailer with expanded metal deck not wood. There were a total of six cross rail I could use and I also used the expanded metal itself. Love the system and it’s versatility. I can tie almost anything down and that makes my trailer even more useful.

Glacier 3 push tube question

Hey gang,

I have a free 48-inch plow but I need to purchase the glacier 3 push tube for the plow. There is 10-inches between the brackets where the push tube bolts to the plow.

Will the glacier 3 push tubes fit this plow/blade? If anyone has the Glacier 3 plow system, could you measure the width where the push tubes bolt to the plow?

Thanks guys!!

Very very strange fuel problem…stumped

Hey guys. I really need some help here. I’m not one to usually post since I’m obsessed with research, but this is a tricky one. I am very experienced with all forms of induction and ATV carbs are pretty damn simple, comparatively. The problem:

Well taken care of 2003 Sportsman 600 4×4 (belongs to a friend)

Intermittently the carb will act as if the float is stuck open and flood out the engine if it’s running or pour out of the overflow/vent. I have never been able to duplicate it on my own but it’s a pretty easy symptom to describe so I doubt he’s wrong. I gave the carb a thorough cleaning and adjusted the float to spec, it was very very close. It ran great for me for multiple trips and then it left him stranded the first night he took it out, same issue. I ordered a new needle and seat from Polaris and installed it, double checking the float’s condition (no leaks), float movement (no obstruction) and adjustment (dead on). The only thing that concerned me, and I’ve only seen it happen once in my life, is that the spring loaded cushion pin on the top of the needle may be sticking. I noticed that if its stuck down the float will hit the carb body before the needle seats, thusly "sticking open". I would like to imagine that the new OEM needle would be fresh and wouldn’t stick. I put a few trips on it and delivered it last night. My buddy is pretty smart and listens to every bit of advice I give him so both he and I are really good about turning off the fuel (new OEM peacock) and letting the machine run out when parked. Especially in Texas, fuel evaporates quickly. First thing this morning he turned on the fuel and it started pouring out of the overflow with the engine off. I’m completely stumped. The only thing I can think of is that maybe fuel tank vent is plugged or somehow intermittently doing something sealing off the fuel evaporation pressure and when the petcock is opened up, it’s providing more pressure than the needle can handle and its pushing past.

Ideas?????
