Tire choice

I realize everyone has a personnel choice, Ive been reading and studying tires for about 3 days, Im not a tire expert by any means, Ive already put mud lites A/T on the front, After I realized they do not have the best reputation as far as side wall punctures go. So I was determined to pick a lot better tire for the rear and live with the fronts and see how they do. After reading a lot Im finding that a lot of the tires out there also puncture fairly easy. I want to stay stock size or maybe go up to a 26" but no more than that. With out spending 200.00 per tire which is ridiculous as far as my wallet is concerned.
What is out there that truly works, Im not a big mud rider, Not to say there isn’t any mud on the trails I ride, I ride mainly Mountain trails, Rock, Loose rock, tree roots, Hills, etc
I cant seem to find a tire or tread pattern for this, My dealer said they sell more mud lites than any other tire and have never had a problem with them, So is he lying to me or are people exaggerating about them, Ive seen as many complaints about Bear claws getting punctured also. So is it a crap shoot with all tires or is there one that is bullet proof at 100.00 or so per tire.

Heat shield break and fix

I started to notice a really annoying aluminum rattle after driving through a swamp so I finally took off the seat and side panel and had a look. I discovered the bottom mount for the heat shield broke and I’m thinking it was thermal shock anyway I just put a washer under the existing washer and tightened the bolt and the problem is fixed.

Guys who have bought guru bumpers

I ordered a plain front bumper for my 570 on march 23rd. Jon on the phone seemed like a cool guy. He told me 4 weeks they were real busy and now where into week 7 and I haven’t heard anything back from him. I was ok with waiting and still am it doesn’t effect me riding lol just more or less wanted to make sure he didn’t forget about me without bugging him. Anyone else have this happen?

front end locking up

So recently I’ve noticed on my 570 that it steeres super hard. Just last night I was using awd in reverse and once I put it in forward and put it back to 2wd the front end felt like it was locking up like bouncing a little. What could this be, the front end has fluid in it.

Sportsman 570 missing grunt

I have a 2015 sportsman 570 EPS EBS and it’s lacking the low and mid grunt that it use to have when I first bought it. When I first purchased the machine, my dealer changed the clutch weights for higher elevation (Utah) but, I ended up hitting the rev limiter and they switched the weights back. Once they switched the weights back, my machine lost some of its grunt and I just assumed it was normal and so I continued like that for the past 1000 miles. What made me realize that it is not normal is when I raced my brother who has a 2015 sportsman 570 base model. His machine would pop a wheelie and slowly pull away from mine. After he whooped on me, I decided to get on his machine and it made me sad how much my machine lacks the grunt his has. So I bought a new belt and clutch kit last week from Ryan, and then tried multiple setups with different springs, and switching between stock weights and the new weights. Even with all the different setups, my bother beat me every time. Not once would my machine lift its front end up, even with the clutch kit and stock tires.

I have talked to Ryan from RVS Performance about this and he suggested a few things that might be the problem. Such as I might need a new belt, clutches needing to be cleaned, and maybe needing some new bushings. I have bought a new belt and scrubbed the clutch sheaves with a scotch brite pad but, have not messed with the bushings. Besides for those few things, is there any other things that could be causing the lack of grunt?

I am looking for suggestions of possible causes to help better diagnose the problem and make the dealer fix it when I take it in this week.

Thanks guys.

spark plug help!

The other morning I went out to start my 570 to go cut wood and when I went to start it it stalled, 3 times until it would go. Sparkplug? mine is one year old and it has the original in it. What’s the number on the NGK sparkplug to fit my sportsman, currently it has a champion in it. Thanks.

finished up exhaust mod with snorkle

im new here although ive been reading the forum for awhile… ok so ive done some research about the 570 shutting off while at idle when the exhaust is submerged. when i read that i thought it was weird because mine never did that. well sure enough the next day it did it three times. the issue i ran into is i only ride in 2wd until i need 4×4. well i found out the hard way that my 570 wont go into 4×4 if the rear tires are spinning. so every time i would let it idle down to engage 4×4 it would die on me. so to get to the point i did something about it today. So i have access to an exhaust pipe bender and i have a welder so i started cutting today. i took 2" exhaust pipe and made my snorkel out of that. i took a small piece of 2" exhaust and angle cut it. i took a 2" hole saw to the rear of the muffler and welded that in (some call it the exhaust mod and it is louder) for the old exhaust hole i went to the local hardware store an found a fender washer that would fit over it. then i found a nut that would fit into the center of the fender washer and a bolt ( i figured i could use it as a drain so when i sink my bike i can get the water out) i made it so the snorkel is removable because i dont normally want to ride with it on. if you have any questions feel free to ask away.
