Found out yesterday the the ducts for venting the clutch are not very well shielded from splashes if you hit a big water hole at high speed. Went through a big hole twice, and had to pull the plug and drain water from the clutch cover. After looking at it today while washing it, there is a direct line of sight from both the inlet and exhaust ducts down to the right front tire. Nothing to redirect any of the splash between the two. Judging by the dirty water splash marks, it looks like that is the problem. Even had some in the air intake tube and air box. Sure hope that’s it, and I don’t have problems doing a water crossing at a normal speed.
Has anyone ever tried to contact polaris directly about the heat issue with these bikes? I no mu dealer said it was normal. Boiling gas and melting seats isn’t normal. Maybe when those gas vapors ignite on a few bikes something may be done.
Well, I finally got my rzr sold and made the switch back to a wheeler (Did it for hunting purposes). Started the day off getting to the office to a mailed in photo ticket that got me doing 72 in a 55, not a good start to the day lol. At lunch, went and picked up the wheeler which got me out of the pissy mood from recieving the ticket earlier. Finally got off work and started my hour and a fifteen minute journey home when my truck, an 02 f350, started acting up. Pulled off the interstate just in time for the transmission to explode and the rear end to lock up. So now im back in a crappy mood. I had to back my brand new wheeler off of the trailer, disconnect the trailer from the truck, then hook the trailer to the wheeler and pull it through rush hour traffic to a nearby gas station where my god father was parked. After three hours i finally made it home and got to ride my new wheeler, and man do I love it!! Absolute dream of a wheeler to ride.
Sorry for the long post, thought some of you might get a kick out of it though.
im coming up to the end of my 6mth warranty period with my base 570. this 570 was mfd 1/5/2015. have had no issues but ive always had the drivetrain lash. a noisy gear meshing sound in the rear end. can anyone tell me if theres is similar. the way to test this noise is, you can with the motor off and in High range) rock the atv back and forth see if you can hear the noise i spoke about.
Wrapping your headers might cool your leg down some..but it also traps more heat close to the motor = HEAT very bad for motors. Hello people.. heat on your leg is NORMAL..its the headers dissipating heat…you are sitting on a motor you know?
The Risks
Exhaust wrapping is not without its risks. First, the higher exhaust exit temperatures can lean out the fuel mixture of an engine — sometimes severely. An overly lean situation can lead to rapid engine failure. Thus, wrapped pipes may necessitate either re-jetting or a change in mapping depending on your bike’s fuel management system.
There is also a real risk of header and pipe damage due to excessive heat build-up. There are numerous reports of split and cracked exhausts that can be attributed to the use of exhaust wrap
IF your Sportsman gets so hot that its burning your leg or melting plastic then TAKE IT IN!! you have other issues, like a blockage or lean condition. Don’t hide the problem by wrapping it up you will do more damage!
..And lastly don’t tell me NASCAR or other powersports places wrap headers..cuz I know..they also tune for it and rebuild after every race.

Many times you come to a message board and get scared because all you read are issues and problems. Well that’s because when people have issues that’s where they turn. I can report that Its going on a month now with my 2015 570 EPS Polaris sportsman and the only issue I had was some squeaking that went away. I have rode hours on this machine (in shorts too!) and no burning leg or heat related issues. I have been in thick mud without any EPS problems. its been a great machine to me. To the guys that wrap your headers because you think its to hot..try riding a can-am.. you will see what heat really is lol
I found a deal on a new sportsman 570 2015 efi. Well I think it’s a deal anyways and Id like to get some opinions. He won it and wants to sell it for 5500 canadian. That’s 1000 off retail but has no winch or acceseries that come with it. What do you think about this price. Also what do you think of the sportsman it’s self. Thanks.
I have a 2014 sportsman 570 and a 12" led light bar. My wiring is perfect, Done by electrician its all hooked in to battery. that’s all good. but whenever i hit the switch my inline fuse pops. I can unhook the wires and put them on portable booster pack and the light works perfect. Is there something wrong with the 570? Could it be my original battery having a bad cell? Its almost like its being grounded but it isnt. Would greatly appreciate the help!
