My son and I were recently out riding when we started driving through some loose sand. We had been riding through water, and hard gravel, black top etc.
Then he had problems getting the machine to go through sand if he stopped his forward motion. I had to tow him through the sand, but once we got back on the road, the bike drove fine. Later back at the truck I noticed that if I put a barrier in front of the wheels to form resistance, the bike tires wouldn’t move. I felt a LITTLE torque like the transmission was trying to move, but the bike wouldn’t go forward no matter how much throttle I gave it.
If I removed the resistance, the bike would move just fine. He rode the rest of the day, but always had issues when he stopped his forward momentum in sand.
Any thoughts? Could it be the transmission? Is this something to do with the CVT? Could the water have affected it?
My boy seized up his 2004, – 50. Circlip fell out and did in the cylinder. And since I’m going to buy a new one anyways. I was wondering is the 90 lower end the same as the 50? Thought that I might be able to up grade the motor by just replacing the entire top end.
I have a 2007 Predator 500 and I am in the process of changing out the rear axle bearings. I have the rear end apart and so far have installed the new bearing races.
I am about to install the new bearings and seals but I cannot remember where the o-rings are supposed to go. Looking at the parts diagram it appears as though they go between the bearings and the seals, but it would make more sense if they went on the outside of the seals.

Hello, new to the forum. I picked up a 04 pred 500. After I got it home it has started smoking under throttle. my buddy and I tore it down yesterday and cleaned the carb, checked valve clearance(little off), inspected and tested fuel pump(tests fine), changed plug, oil, filter, and did a compression check. Not a lot of history on machine, guy I got it from only had a year. said he just had timing chain, and some other stuff done. It looks like blue smoke(color blind) smells like gas. Where else should I look? valve seals maybe? Thanks in advance for the help.

Can someone point me in the right direction of where I can find the seal the goes into the cover for the oil filter? I can’t seem to find what I’m after and mine is split and leaking.
Hi I just joined the group I have a 2005 Polaris predator 500 I was riding yesterday and it was working great I let a friend ride it and it was fine now I go to fire it up and there’s no power… Battery cables are tight the battery is not even a year old if I hook power cables to it I can get lights but it won’t start… Where do I go from here? I’ve been reading and people are saying check the fuses but where are they located? Is this a common issue? Thanks
So Im in the process of painting my plastics. Got the front done but was curious if someone could photo shop just below the red V red as well? So basically the nose that clips on would be all red. Also what do you guys think of it? Opinions?
I have a 2004 Predator 500. Trying to piece it back together. The prior owner took the stock carb off and replaced it with a bigger one that didn’t fit right. I just bought a Mikuni BSR 42 to put it back to factory. My question is that the end of the throttle cable isn’t fitting right on the carb, so does anyone have the stock setup that can send a pic of it together? Trying to figure out if I can rig it or just replace the whole cable.
