changing oil 2002 sportsman 700

First time trying this and i am stumped on EXACTLY where the drain plug is. I looked under the quad and see a hole in the frame and a plug that is not a regular head that you would put a socket on, but is a hex head cap type of bolt. Is this the drain bolt. I have the little manual that came with the atv, but no picture of where the bolt is located. I have a service manual and it is not clear either. I don’t want to start just taking bolts out.

Need some help ASAP

bought a 07 outlaw 525 irs about 2 years ago. I need some help with taking the crankcase apart I have tried to look on YouTube and I’m just lost. I have never worked with this small of an engine. But it can’t be that hard. Please help me out videos or finding the exact manual I need to do this and tools I will need will make my life a lot easier.

Fan override & fan disable

I’ve been wanting to do this to my RZR for a while now, but wasn’t sure if it was possible since I hadn’t seen anyone do it.

What I wanted is a single switch that will allow me to (1) have a manual "constant on" fan override AND (2) have a fan disable (for deep water). I finally decided to do a little research and found a wiring diagram that I think does what I want AND has a couple of built in features that I didn’t think about. I’ve also been chatting with Joemamma, and with his help, I think we got this. If you guys see something wrong, speak up. I haven’t tried to wire it up yet.

Anyway, this first diagram is the basic diagram from another site, modified for the Polaris system. Basically, using a SPDT switch, you tap into the fan 12v wire between the stock fan relay and the fan. Current supplied to the wire, via the switch (position 1), runs to the fan…bypassing the stock relay which is controlled by the temp sensor and ECU. Thus the "constant on override".

The "extra" gizmo is the "shutoff relay". This relay is by default in the closed position…which allows the current to run through it (whether coming from the stock setup OR the override setup) and operate the fan. If you put the switch in position 2, it energizes the coil in the "shutoff relay", which opens the circuit, and kills power to the fan. Thus, the disable function. It also energizes an indicator light (ie…reminder light) to let you know that your fan is totally disabled. Plus, if for some reason, the relay fails, it’ll default closed to keep the stock system intact.

The next diagram I came up with as I looked at the layout. I was concerned about the full load of the fan being pulled through the switch when using the override function. So I added another relay between the switch and stock fan wire. This relay would basically be triggered by the switch and pull the current from a 12v source such as the battery, fuse block, etc. Everything else would work as above.

With the switch in the "off" position, everything should work as normal, through the ECU, as if none of this was attached.

Like I said, I drew this up for an 08 RZR 800, but in theory, would work for almost any machine. IT IS UP TO YOU, to verify your stock wiring harness, colors, etc. Let me know what you think.

2014 Sportsman 570 tail lights to LED

Hi all,
I am new to the forum, and have looked for info without success, on how to wire up my new LED tail lights on my machine. First, where the heck are wiring schematics for these things, ATVs. It’s as if Polaris sees these things as top military secrets! The dealer had something, but would not share or print me a copy, but I refuse to believe there are no wiring diagrams available somewhere? :bam:

Anyway, to my problem. I have a new brighter set of LED tail lights I want to install on my 570. I managed to get the wiring for a tail light, but it won’t work when connected correctly. It seems both the brake wire & tail light wire have voltage on them all the time. Normally, as a car would have, when the lights are on, you have voltage on the tail light wire and none on the brake wire. The brake wire gets voltage when the brake is pressed. But on the Polaris, if the brake is pressed the voltage is cut off on the brake light, leaving you with no brake light. Why does Polaris do this? Is there a work around. Detailed instructions please if someone has made this modification. Do I need to install a another relay or move some wiring around? :silvia:
