Accessorized my 900SP

I got some really good deals from my dealer on accessories and took advantage of that. One of my priorities was new wheels and tires. NH and Maine deep wood trails are loaded with sharp ledge and pointy tree roots that will shred a OEM sidewall, so something rugged in that department was needed. I ended up with Polaris REBLR beadlocks and ProArmor Attack 26" tires.

Between removing the rear anti-sway and the addition of the new wheel/tire package, these alone have made a big improvement to comfort and how fast I can move over bumps. I weighed the new tires vs the OEM tires and overall they added 75 pounds total unsprung weight. Only time it is noticeable is on take off from idle…and just barely at that.

Except for the side mirrors which came from Cabela’s, everything else is Popo. The side door extensions left a lot to be desired. Fit was pretty bad :damnit: The plastic is too brittle as well. When I installed them it had been @ 45-50*f and had not been below freezing. The plastic cracked while shutting the left side door in one spot. I don’t expect them to last the winter. And even with some little adjustment at the hinges, neither side fit quite right. Having been around performance off road motorcycles and quads all my life and never seen as poor quality and fit as these expensive doors made by Polaris for their own vehicle. I’ve had some questionable aftermarket parts, but never had any problems with Brand named bolt ons. Until now. :wtf:

Put the door issues aside, I still love this machine.

I still have yet to install my Desertcraft seat springs and 4way harness. Hopefully I will this weekend.

A few parking lot pics taken before my Xmas Day ride yesterday. Usually @ 30*f here in NH this time of year. But yesterday it was close to 70*f. I want snow.

New wheel/tire package make it wider. 53" in front. 56" in rear.

2016 Polaris ACE 900 SP First Ride & Review

To say that a march of horsepower-soaked machines have been high-stepping out of the Polaris facilities in 2016 is an understatement. It seems like each machine has more horsepower and torque than the last. This attention to displacement and muscle did skip over the ACE line in 2016 either. The single-seat, sit-in ATV has only been a thing for two short years, and already we are spoiled for choice with engine configurations. Model year 2016 sees the addition of the ACE 900 SP.

This compact newcomer to the off-road marketplace came as a surprise to most buyers, as it was a machine that they didn’t even know that they needed in the garage. At the behest of significant others and kids all across the nation, the ACE made it’s way into the toy hauler, and smiles were had by all. The ACE mixes the small-footprint of an ATV with the ergonomics, seating position, controls and roll cage of a side-by-side. "The best of both worlds,” as it were.

The ACE 900 SP shares the Sportsman platform of the other ACE models, but a detuned Prostar 900 motor has been shoehorned just behind the seat to offer up 60hp. In other machines this motor has been known to produce a few more horsepowers, but with the ACE weighing in 184lbs lighter than the RZR 900, 60hp is more than enough to power this lightweight billygoat down the trail with great haste. It’s compact footprint combined with that level of horsepower means that a driver needs to be awake to drive this thing quickly. The 325 and 570 iterations of this machine lent toward the "mat it and go" driving style, but the 900 SP is a whole new ballgame. Calculated throttle positioning is absolutely necessary.

The 900 SP comes standard with EPS, which was sorely missed in the 325 and the 570, although it was an optional feature. It is not quite as quick steering as I would have liked while driving fast, but in talking to the engineers, this was by design. They consciously slowed the steering down due to the footprint of the machine. Quicker steering is handy when going fast, but it can get a driver into trouble more quickly as well. The steering made me look a little further down the trail than I would normally, and assessment of trail conditions and undulations well in advance are necessary in the ACE 900 SP. Preparedness will keep the round black parts of the ACE on the trail.

winch and mileage

First thing first I filled up before I went out yesterday and filled up when I got back I have calculated my gas mileage as 31.05 mpg.Not too shabby for not being broken in yet .Motor is the 325 .Second thing, anybody got pics of their winch set up?Im leaning towards taking off the whole bottom piece instead of cutting it and ruining it.While im at it where are yous putting the spare gas tank or is that even a issue with a possible 150 mile range?

new ace

Going to pick up my new non-current 2014 ace today.Ive thought about the ace ever since they came out as its a perfect machine for my needs.Im not a tourer, nor a mudder,im a hunter and fisherman atv,er.I was happy with my 2010 500 h.o. power wise, so I believe I will be happy with the ace.I will never understand why bombardier dropped the traxster walkthough atv,it was until the ace the perfect disabled persons atv. Some days I have a hard time swinging those 2 knee replacements up over the 500 ho and I did not want a s/s.Along comes the ace and presto!,prayers are answered.First thing im going to do is swap tires and rims so I have the swampfox tires on the ace that are currently on my 500.(stock size).I have the windshield, gunrack and roof so far plus 2 side mirrors .Really cant wait to get it out for a nice spin .

Newbie here with a question

I am considering picking up an Ace but I would like to be able to attach a snow plow and a swisher type loader bucket like I had on my regular atv. I have seen pics of them with the snow plow but never a bucket. Has anybody done this? Do you think the seat is the seat high enough that I would be able to see the bucket? Any reason why you think it wouldnt work?
Thanks in advance

Polaris 2016 ace line up

POLARIS 2016 ACE LINE UP

Since January 2014, the Polaris ACETM has been redefining the off-road experience with the revolutionary, sit-in chassis that combines the nimble handling of an ATV with the security of a Side-by-Side. The result is a machine that is capable, comfortable and inspires confidence.

Due to the widespread appeal of the platform from both the industry and consumers, Polaris introduced the Polaris ACE 570 as part of their 2015 product offering and also introduced the Polaris ACE 570 SP a few months later that included a full package of premium features like automotive style paint, customer graphics, aluminum wheels, Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and an Engine Braking System (EBS). For model year 2016, Polaris is introducing the next level of capable, confident and comfortable with the Polaris ACE 900 SP.

The ACE 900 SP brings big power to the ACE line-up with a 60 horsepower ProStar 900 engine featuring both Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) and Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) to bring the ACE experience to performance-minded customers.

The liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder ProStar 900 EFI engine powering the ACE 900 SP delivers smooth power throughout the RPM range thanks to its dual overhead cam design, 180-degree crank firing order and counterbalancer. The Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) ensures smooth, predictable power at all speeds. To get that power to the ground, the ACE 900 SP features a durable drivetrain built to handle the unit’s higher horsepower for the ultimate big bore experience.

Along with more power, more comfort comes to the ACE 900 SP with Polaris’ EPS system, the smoothest, most-responsive Power Steering System available. For optimum control, the front and rear stabilizer bar improves handling and provides a confidence-inspiring ride. These features found standard on the ACE 900 SP work in tandem to provide even more comfort, capability and confidence.

FOR MODEL YEAR 2016, POLARIS IS INTRODUCING THE NEXT LEVEL OF CAPABLE, CONFIDENT AND COMFORTABLE WITH THE POLARIS ACE 900 SP

To tackle the toughest terrain, the vehicle also features new dual rate rear springs as part of the vehicle’s Independent Rear Suspension (IRS). The new springs provide a predictable and plush ride. Paired with the 25 in/63.5 cm tires and Polaris’ High Performance Close Ratio, On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD), the new ACE 900 SP can conquer almost anything that gets
in its way. The vehicle’s trail-capable and easily transportable 48 in/121.9 cm width means it can maneuver through tighter trails, and its 1500 lb./680 kg towing capacity also makes it a capable work partner.

The ACE 900 SP offers the same rider-centric design unique to all Polaris ACE vehicles. The design places all the major components, including the driver, centralized between the four wheels for a low center of gravity and an incredibly confident ride. The sit-in design of ACE provides a ROPS cage for added protection and intuitive automotive-style controls that provide a familiar experience to newer riders. For added comfort, the adjustable, bolstered bucket seat ensures the operator remains planted in the middle of the vehicle while the 10.25 in/26 cm of ground clearance provides ample amount of room to get over many trail obstacles.

To look good cruising down the trails, the ACE 900 SP is available in Stealth Black automotive-style paint and custom graphics with durable cast aluminum wheels. The nearly flat floorboard and sit-in design make ACE vehicles easy to get in and out, and the ACE 900 SP makes it even easier with factory-installed quarter doors which also provide a sportier look.

Along with the ACE 900 SP, Polaris will continue to offer the original Polaris ACE in new Indy Red and Sage Green, ACE 570 SP in Polaris Pursuit Camo and the 2015 ACE 570 in Voodoo Blue and White Lightning. The ACE 570 SP Polaris Pursuit Camo Model will feature new factory-installed quarter doors, a new high-performance steering wheel and the High-Performance Close Ratio On-Demand All-Wheel Drive System.

Polaris Engineered Accessories will have a full line of accessories for Polaris ACE including doors, winches, cabs and storage. More information about Polaris’ whole line of Off-Road

Is the Ace the answer?

This week the doctor said my right shoulder is done due to years on the quad, age, a sport quad accident 8 years back, the thumb throttle and way too many hours a week on the computer at work without ergonomic desk for over 25 years now. Human arms are made to work near your sides and in front of us…not with the arms up high. Once you lift your elbow more than 45 degrees to the side you are out of the comfort zone. Having my arms up too far for hours on end is pinching the main nerve that runs from my neck, down under the shoulder blade to the elbow and ends at the wrist. It is inflamed and irritated and the more I ride the worse it is going to get. He says I will never be able to sit on a quad, motorcycle or mountain bike again without triggering the pain because of the way the handlebars are. A few weeks back I was up at 1AM trying to decide if I should go to the ER…I thought I was having a heart attack but it was just that nerve radiating through my chest and arm.

It is sure not worth that….just about the worst pain I have ever had. There is no surgery or anything else that can fix it.

Maybe an ace is the answer…no thumb throttle, arms in tight to the body and a steering wheel rather than handle bars. Maybe it is time to just let it go….$10k for a SP to get PS is a lot of change to drop on something I am not sure if I can do.

I am 6’1" 240 lbs and wanted to see if there were any similar sized people with an ace and physical issues that might be able to comment.
