Week of breakage

First off a rolled Grizzly on day 2. Rebound on 8 year old factory shocks sucks. Got bucked off after a long fast whooped section. Training wheels added the next morning.

Next the Arctic Cat blew the front diff. Limped it back to the highway and loaded it on the truck.

Then the 850XP broke the left rear lower control arm. Surprisingly it still rode like normal. Between the shock and the sway bar it held everything together pretty good for a slow w ride back to camp. I was following him and it took a while to figure out what was hanging down. It broke right where the sway bar bracket was welded.

My rack support bolts worked loose again after our second trip up the mountain. I was giving it hell on the way back to camp and didn’t notice until my box and rack hit the ground behind me. Rack supports are wrecked. If I find the time and ambition I might come up with a stronger rack support/rear bumper combo but I’ll probably end up replacing it with factory parts.

Weather was too ugly so we had to turn around and head back down before we got struck by lightning.

Finally this morning I hopped in the RZR to buzz the kids around the campground and found one of the front wheel bearings was ratched.

Nothing too costly overall and between the 6 machines we put on about 4000km this week.

Grizz helped me sat/sun so i treated her to a long ride Mon

Spent the weekend processing two trees in my back yard that never came back to life after the weird winter we had last year. Couldn’t get any of my neighbors to hold a rope for me so i put the grizz to work so i wouldn’t land a tree on the neighbors house or crush a fence.. :icon_ goofy:

This second one might come back to life.. was just topping it off getting rid of the dead.. grizz worked good as a pulley point with 150ft of rope and me hanging from the tree with the chainsaw so i could control the branch lean while hanging from the tree with the saw… worked out well..

For all the grizzly’s efforts i took her out to play on the trails yesterday up in the Owyhees.. Found many trails i’d not ever been on and i’ve ridden out here a lot. One thing about idaho .. you can ride the same general area 20 times and always have a new trail to hit the next time out.. I love going off exploring.. I believe i had 92 miles on the day.. Again .. absolutely NO boiling gas or vapor lock issues.. So glad that issue is resolved. Grizz is running really good now with 6200 pretty decent miles on her… :deal:

Found a little hidden lake and water fall going into the lake i’d never new was there.. The mountain peak in the far back ground is where i ended my day at sunset. It was need to explore this whole valley below the highest peak.

Ended my day at the top… 8400ft i think is all.. but tallest in this section of the range.

Saw a couple of friends on the trail .. These are the only two I was able to get a pic of… saw maybe a dozen total.

Just thought i’d share a few pics of some great country… Have a good week everyone!!

Creede Colorado Pics (Pic Heavy)

Last week our family and a few friends stayed near Creede Colorado and rode for 6 days. We rode Bristol Head Peak, Stony Pass, Spring Creek Pass/Jarosa Mesa, Heart Lake, Wager Gulch to Cinnamon Pass and then Engineer Pass over to California Pass, plus we rode the Bachelor Loop in Creede. Here’s just a few pictures of our trip. I took the Grizz and rode it some of the evenings, but with this being a family trip the Ranger fit the bill.

we even saw some turkeys at well over 10,000ft….that was a first for me.

Trip to the top of Canoe Mountain

Yesterday we made the trip from our campsite to the top of Canoe Mountain. The trail climbs about 6000ft (1850m) in 8 miles (13km). We had a mix of Grizzlies, Rhinos, RZR 800’s and Sportsmans. One RZR was overheating until we pulled the bad thermostat, one Rhino overheated because of a plugged rad and my rear rack rattled loose on the way down. No major problems though.

From the campsite, the Canoe River

Our group freezing at the top. It was only 5°. The guy in the t-shirt was regretting his choice of clothes.
