I have a 2007 250ex. I want to add some power/pep and all around just help the engine run more efficiently.
I ride around my neiborhood into some open fields. So I dont need anything really loud. Ive heard soundclips of exhausts with silencers and theyre still loud.
Has anyone ever just bought a exhaust manifold and added a muffler from another bike that flows better than stock? For example a muffler from a 450r or ninja? If the size was right, wouldn’t this help expel exhaust gasses faster and still keep the noise levels closer to stock?

My stock bore 400ex is finally starting to show some signs of oil burning. Not surprised since im off the rev limiter almost religously(and the previous owner changed the oil probably a total of one time with car oil) so i expect it isnt going to take that for ever. Long story short its going 416 so i want to put in hd head studs. Here is my question and hope to find someone who has used both options.
Option 1: GT thunder (snure interlocking now) about 65.00 shipped to my door and will require the jug to be taken to a machine shop to drill and tap them for the different size and thread
Option 2: arp head studs 135.00 but they thread right into the jug with no need for drilling and tapping. I have used arp on countless car applications but never on a quad.
Thanks to anyone with info i really appreciate it!
I got a 400x its stock but I ordered a lexx exhaust, uni filter and going to remove the lid or drill holes everything will be here Friday I’ve looked on here and think I should put a 42 slow jet and a 175 main jet does that sound about right or what do y’all thank …. thanks
My deceleration us a little poppy and my exhaust is super hot. It’s also a little boggy. That may be because it’s not totally warm but unsure. I just bought the quad. It’s in nice shape. I did discover a very small leak near the head though.I what new exhaust and header but am pretty lost as to jetting etc. What are feelings on header wraps for heat off header?
Buddy just bought an 06 500FM. I’m replacing all the worn out front end crap and I’ve also removed the obnoixious HMF that was on there when he bought it and putting a stock Honda muffler on there.
I know most people change the jets when they put one of these loundeners on a machine, and there was a dynojet sticker on the side, so that would reinforce the idea that it’s got aftermarket jet in there.
What is the stock jet size, and am I correct in my assumption that running this rig with a bigger jet in it with the stock exhaust will make it run rich/hot?
I am replacing the broken timing chain tension arm on my wife’s ’07 Recon. Since I am already in there, I figured on replacing the timing chain & oil pump chain. I will need to slide the camshaft out to replace the timing gear, so I was considering installing a "hotter" camshaft.
I see that the Recon camshaft & the 250ex are different part#’s. Would there be anything to be gained by installing a cam from a 250ex?
I believe that my new 2015 Foreman has a Cat built into the muffler behind the O2 sensor. (If someone knows I am wrong about the presence of a Cat in the OEM Honda muffler please let me know),,, I have decatted quite a few Harley Davidson exhaust systems with great success without any remap of the ECM as long as the intake system is left alone. The Harley ECM has limited ability to adjust fuel mixture and timing for the decreased back pressure in the exhaust up to a point. The advantage to doing this to a Harley is a huge decrease in heat in the Cat area & improve exhaust note, (sound),,,,
Has anybody tried this on these late model fuel injected models? I am interested in the outcome.
Thanks,
Dwayne
