I Now Have A Reason To Be Here

Figured I’d finally post here since I put a deposit down on a ’16 camo eps Grizzly yesterday.

Im from Upstate NY. I’ve owned and enjoyed ATVs my entire life. We hunt, ice fish, light work and trail ride with them. Latest machine for me is an ’08 camo eps Grizz.

We’ll see how this new machine performs before making any serious changes but I do have some simple mods in mind such as tires, an EHS Big 3 kit (or equivalent) and potentially some clutch work.

I look forward to spending some time here as there seems to be some pretty knowledgeable members and informative threads.

New Member With Grizzly 600 Problems

Hey all, glad to have found this forum. I’m working on my brothers 2000 Grizzly 600. Last year I found it to be completely out of oil and would not start. Pull start cord could not be pulled up. Started research on youtube and found one really good series of videos by "Steve someone". Pulled the pull start cover off and put a wrench on the nut and got the piston to free up but pull starter still does not want to pull after the first try. What is my next step? I really do not want to get into the heads. Using a wrench, the piston seems to move freely.

Excited to share info on my Grizzly

Hey everyone,

I just had to perform some service on my 2014 Grizzly 550 and wanted to join the forum to share the process. I had to replace the wheel bearings after only 1000 miles but it wasn’t too painful. I can’t post the link yet because I don’t have enough posts to the forum but feel free to check it out on my outdoor gear website listed below.

Thanks!

New to the Forum and New (to Me) Grizzly

Hailing from the Southwest corner of Montana and am relatively new to the ATV world and Idiosyncrasies of Quads. Please bear with me through this wordy intro. Purchased our first ATV back at the end of February, when I test rode it, it was only 6 degrees, had everything but a hat and face mask, needless to say the ride wasn’t very long, but long enough to bring the wife back to take a second look and make the purchase. No it wasn’t a Grizzly or even a Yamaha, not sure if it’s politically correct to use other manufacturers names here or not so will be very careful:icon_ goofy:. It started with an "H", the riding we’ve done on it has been great and much fun, but wasn’t long til we knew that we needed a 2nd one. No that one wasn’t a
Grizzly either, that one started with a "K", but the price was right, it was an older machine ’99, but only had 457 miles, not bad for a 16 year old machine. It was in very good shape, just needed a little clean up and a bit of paint here and there and needed a couple of small repairs, so went to work on it. Removed wheels and tires cleaned up and used some green scotch brite pads to scuff up the wheels, repainted those the wheel hubs, removed winch and bracket repainted those and front grill, and treated all plastics with Meguiars black plastic treatment. Pull start was sticking so removed it and cleaned it up, there was a primer plunger for the carburetor that was leaking and rotten so replaced that as well ($25) it ran like a top. Took it out a few times and realized it wasn’t what we really wanted. Full time 4 wheel drive, engine braking didn’t work as well as we had hoped so, put it on Craigslist. Paid 2000 for it, it did have a Warn winch and plow with it, but sold it for $3500, It was exactly what the guy was looking for for his wife, and the plow was a bonus for him. Turned around last week and bought our Grizzly, 2008 400, only 264 original miles, seems to be in great shape.
The question is, and am not afraid to ask, as I have learned, that the only dumb question is an unasked question. Is this a decent machine? I haven’t been able to find a whole lot of information about it. Even looking on Craigslist, most of the Yamaha’s that I saw for sale were 450’s, 550’s, 660’s, 700’s, and even some older 350’s. Even looking through the different ATV threads, of several different makes of machines, I really haven’t seen anyone that has one of these machines. So any feed back would certainly be appreciated. I am enjoying reading through the different threads and appreciate all the knowledge that is so freely given, thanks in advance. FF
