Well we blew the motor in the 440. It was a problem child from day 1. Where can I find a replacement stock 400 motor? Or am I better off selling the parts and trying to re-coup my losses?
I have a good bottom end from a 2000 Honda trx250ES recon. Can I use the 2000 bottom end and cylinder and use a 20008 Honda trx250ex sporttrax head and rocker cover? Any help is much appreciated.
Hey guys, I just picked up a sweet 2001 400ex. We pulled the carb off and it was over flowing with fuel. I’m not sure what the problem is but sure would appreciate if someone could help me out here, it just keeps flooding itself and my brother said something about a float getting stuck or something idk I’m not familiar with carbs yet, I’m still learnin lol. Thanks guys anything will help!
So I’m relatively new to atvs. been riding for about a year with only a couple rides but feel I picked out up pretty well. I’ve been riding my wife’s 2002 trx400ex and I absolutely love that bike. As much as I would rather pay a couple grand for a well maintained used bike is easier on our finances to go through a dealership. I completely fell in love with the 450r tri color, it’s gorgeous. My question would be should I stick to a 400 since I’m still new and it’s what I know(but hate the plastics) or go for the more powerful 450? We do about equal dune riding and trail riding.
I have a 300ex that I’m having some serious difficulty getting dialed in. When I got it back in March it was mostly stock and I really didn’t mess with it much because it was cold. Now that its warm out I’m trying to get it going. It starts with very little effort but when running long enough to release the choke it idles ok for a minute or so then acts like its running lean revs up a couple times idles low then dies. I rode it once and if I go full throttle on it in 5th gear it only goes around 30 maybe. So first the quad has the no lid mod and looks like an aftermarket pipe. So I rejetted it with an FMF kit. I live in Michigan so I jetted it according to michigan elevation, which would have been a 128 jet (I tried every jet between 118 and 128 just to be sure its not a jetting problem) , and #4 on the needle and the air/fuel mixture has been adjusted. Also cleaned the carb while it was out as well. It has a new spark plug and running 93 octane gas now, had 89 octane thought that might be the problem but that is a no go. I’m all out of ideas now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 03 honda trx 400ex and non of the buttons or anything works with out a jumper box hooked up to the battery and when I hook the jumper box to the battery it engages the starter where did I go wrong?
I bought this 4 wheeler new and have had this problem since I got it. About one out of 15 times when you first get on it, it wont shift from first to second. All other times it works flawlessly. You can pull, snatch, kick or whatever you want to do but it wont go, until finally it pops into second. Then it works flawlessly until tomorrow, next week, next month or whenever it decides to do it again.
When the problem occurs, the shift handle does not move all the way to its position where it usually shifts at. Its like something is binding or hitting inside the gearbox that keeps it from engaging.
When it was still under warranty, I talked to a Honda shop and they said that they have never heard of that problem before and that if it didnt do it when they had it, then they would call me to come get it without going into it further. So I didnt waste my time taking it just to go back and get it and still have the same problem. I thought it would get worse but it never did.
Have any of you guys ever experienced this before? I looked at the breakdown on it and the shift forks look like they have the same type of fastener that the shift lever does(With the bolt and slotted shaft). Wonder if it was never tightened properly?
Sorry for the long read….
