I’ve got a 09 rancher 420 with the ES that I’m having a few issues with. The bike is having a hard time shifting. Sometimes I can get it into first gear but the display shows 5th!! I can also get it into reverse sometimes but the display displays a blank line. In reverse the bike seems to be slipping. I can shift it Manually into other gears but often pops out when I get up to speed. I have already replaced the angle sensor already. Also does anyone know if you can adjust the clutch on the Honda 420 ES? I know where it is on the Manuel versions but can’t seem to find it on the ES. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have posted a few times here about ho unhappy I’m with the way my 2013 rancher 420 Es shifts. With 60 miles on it, its very loud when shifting, nothing smooth about it. You can hear the shift motor every shift. Every shift you hear a Loud clunk.
Had the opertunity to test ride a rancher FA 2004 4500 miles for a neighbor that just bought it and wanted my opinion on his new ride. In auto I could not hear or feel it shift in any way! I would swear it was not shifting, but the display was showing it. Super super smooth like wet ice on wet ice! Now switched it to manual shift. Same thing! Every shift shifted so smooth you could not hear or feel it shift in any way. It was just awesome! I was amazed..actually fell,in love with the electric shift.
So…my question what the heck is the difference in the shifting systems in the 13 420es. And the 04 400 FA ranchers?
Hello Honda friends. For those interested in the Honda Rancher I just bought a new 2016 and I LOVE it. Here is a video of it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JHwKM6b5Wcs

Looking for a receiver hitch for a 06 rancher 350 ES. I have the Kurt brand bolt on attachment but looking for something a little sturdier. Didn’t know if it was possible to have a receiver welded onto the frame somehow? Any help would be much appreciated..

Under the seat next to the battery is a silver cylindrical shaped part with a single wire on the top of it. If I was to guess I would say it was a capacitor of some sort. Anyways the rats chewed it up pretty good and I can’t seem to locate this part anywhere on the Internet. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advanced. By the way the atv still seems to run ok without it.
I only have 400 miles on my rancher and when I slam on the brakes it sounds like gears grinding.i don’t know much about autos but I would think that the clutch would come on to stop this.ive even tried slowing in first gear and it sounds like its in between gears or something.this doesn’t sound good ive only had this a few months
Have a 2007 420 Rancher ES and just read a older post that the Rancher cant be tapped. Is this true? Last owner stripped it. What are my options?? Thanks
