Wiring Marine 12V adaptor to Rancher

Greetings, new to the forum along with a new Honda Rancher 420. I purchased the Marine Grade 12 VDC Socket off of Amazon to wire to the front auxiliary plug – but not sure which of the FOUR wires to attach to the TWO connectors on the socket – there is a green, white, brown and orange wire. I searched through the forums on this and found what was probably a detailed "how to" however the links to the images/instructions no longer work! Any info much appreciated!

2002 Rancher 350ES odd shifting problem

I have a 2002 Honda Rancher 350 ES that has an odd shifting problem. When you start up the bike it shifts perfectly, but after a couple of minutes it stops shifting with the electric shift at all. The only way to get it to work is to turn the ignition off and start the bike up again and it will shift for a few more minutes. I have had trouble with the main fuse blowing regularly, but it doesn’t seem to correspond with the electric shift stopping working. I haven’t got a monitor hooked up at the moment because it was smashed when I got it, so I can’t see any error codes. I have an 05 Rancher ES I was going to switch over some parts to narrow down the problem, but I was curious to see if anyone else had had this problem before and had a solution before I start switching parts over. Any help would be much appreciated.

2005 Honda Rancher 350ES engine knocking

I have a 2005 Honda Rancher 350ES that has a knocking noise in the engine. It sounds like it is coming from the top end, but with all the other noises of a running engine it is hard to pinpoint it exactly. I have had the engine apart, checked the valve adjustment, checked the piston, piston rings, and the cylinder, and the timing chain, and everything is fine. I’m out of options, and to the extent of my knowledge. Someone had suggested that it may be my crankshaft, but does that sound right? I tried shaking the piston rod up and down while I had the top end off but there didn’t seem to be any movement suggesting that the rod was loose on the crankshaft. How could I check to see if it is the crankshaft? How do I take the crankshaft out? Any help would be much appreciated.

Gas tank reserve on 2008

I bought my 2008 420 Rancher last month. It had only 17 miles on it and 19 hours from "just running it". The previous owner had the "20hour" service done and I think had the fuel system drained and serviced at that time. I’m sure that the gas in it is at least one or two years old and want it gone. I’ve put another twenty miles on it and it is running fine, but I want fresh fuel in the system. Question: do I need to run the tank down to needing to switch to reserve and run that down to clean things out, or will filling the tank when normally low mix in with the reserve fuel? Thanks, Bob

Double winch

so, through a comedy of errors and an overreliance on my local shop, I’ve ended up with two working winches (and one not so working solenoid which is about to be replaced). first winch is a superwinch 3000# (not sure on the model at the moment) and the new one off of craigslist is a warn a2500.

so….not wanting to throw a working thing away, I thought it might be possible to mount one of the winches on the rear of my fourwheeler (2012 rancher AT). has anyone done this? any ideas of what parts of the rear frame that are exposed in the IRS models that would be safe to winch from? I’m thinking of having a heavy duty selector switch to be able to use the one solenoid to drive either winch after selecting which one the output of the solenoid goes to. does that sound reasonable? pictures/diagrams welcome!

05 Rancher Lift

Installed my spring spacers and my bracket lift tonight. Just wondering if anyone else is running a "double lift" setup? Got 2" aluminum spring spacers and then an ATV Engineering bracket lift as well. Had to pry the shocks into the brackets to line the bolts up. Definetely can tell it puts the ball joints and tie rods in a "bind". increased the steering effort significantly even on jack stands. Haven’t picked up my 27’s yet so it looks funny with the 25’s but sits up nicely.

07 Honda rancher 420 fe factory snorkle

I recently purchased an 07 Honda rancher 420 fe and the stock snorkle is not on the bike. At first it wasn’t s big deal but after riding a few times I have had water make its way to the air box. I really don’t go deep or do anything to crazy when riding just the ocassional small mud hole. So anyone know where I could buy a factory snorkle for pretty cheap, I found the oem one online but its around $60 and i don’t really want to spend that much. And also would I be better off to just buy some snorkle kit even though I dnot take my rancher deep? Thanks for the help!!!
