2003 Rancher ES

I’m going to look at a 2003 Rancher ES tomorrow. It has electronic shift. The guy said it’s sat for awhile and now it’s wanting to kick out of 3rd gear back to neutral. Anything I should pay attention to when I go look at it? Low battery, bad angle sensor, etc? Thanks in advance

05 rancher 350

Hello fellas, got a quick question. I’ve recently ordered a epi performance upgrade clutch for my rancher. Reason I done so was because I decided to use regular oil and screwed up my friction plates, so I figured while changing them I might as well upgrade.

My question is, does any one have any tips or tricks to make thi job a little easier. What should I watch out for?

Thanks in advance!

A Rancher visits Colorado

I just spent two weeks in Colorado. I trailered my 2014 Rancher 4×4 SRA foot shift out for some fun. I put 627 miles on it. I am sure it is broke in now. It had 87 miles on it when I left.

Questions before I pull the trigger

I am looking at an ’07 Rancher 420 4×4 in excellent physical and mechanical condition, according to the owner. I have only seen pictures so far. Its camo color, 2500 lb warn winch, 12" ss rims with 27" mudlite tires. One owner and low miles.
It will be used for deer lease, around the house, occasional atv park, and wolf pen gap once a year.
I previously had an ’07 foreman 500 4×4 electric shift that
I absolutely loved.
My question is would the rancher live up to expectations or should I hold off till I can find another foreman. Good clean Foreman’s without excessive miles are hard to come by around here.
Lastly, my wife rides with me about half the time. Will the rancher have enough room for 2?
Thanks for any replies!

Plow question

So it looks like the UTV is going to be put off for a bit. We will be moving out to our new house before winter and will need a way for snow removal. Anybody have a suggestion for the plow. I already have the winch mounted, but we will have a driveway and a small section of road to clear for the school bus. Its a 2014 Rancher ES 4×4. I did a search and came up with a lot of info and am trying to sort through it, but sometimes its easier to get straight to the point.

gas leak

My 04 rancher 350 es 2×4 is leaking gas underneath looks to be a out of a vent hose? The gas is turned off. Any quick advice? Thought I would get some imput, haven’t had a chance to look at it yet.

Motor for 01 rancher 350 ES 4×4 – does it matter 4×4 or 2×4

was told by my dealer I need a new case for my current motor.

bike is an 01 rancher 350 4×4 ES.

There are a couple of replacement motors on ebay from $700-1300. Basically the more you pay, the better you get, warranty, rebuilt, etc.

However there is one about 8 hours south of me ending tomorrow morning on ebay. guy says he sold the bike so he doesn’t need the replacement motor. Good motor. currently $400. He hasn’t listed the year, or if it’s 4×4 or 2×4. Just lists as a honda 350 rancher motor. I can see that its an ES model by the case, just can’t tell if it’s 4×4.

So my question is, does it matter as long as it’s an ES motor, if it’s 4×4 or 2×4, and will it work on my 4×4? I have till 8am central time to bid tomorrow!

here’s a link to ebay listing:

figured switching motors would be easier and faster than trying to swap everything into a new case. No telling what else if I went that route even though it would be cheaper.

05 rancher 350 2wd gets hot when idling and leaks oil.

i worked on a friends 05 350 rancher 2wd that sat for a couple years with some gas in the oil from the needle valve leaking. i cleaned the carb and replaced needle valve ,changed the oil and filter. it runs great but if you let it sit and idle it gets really hot and starts to leak oil. the oil temp light doesnt come on and im pretty sure it works cause it comes on for a second when you turn the key on so im not sure its getting too hot. i cant see where its coming from but you can see a few drops on the ground and you can smell and see the smoke rolling out. as soon as you ride it and get some air moving across the oil cooler and motor it cools down and the smoke goes away. i’m wondering if the gas in the oil ruined some of the gaskets to the point that they seal when its cooler but when its just idling and gets hotter they start to leak. i was also wondering if theres some kind of vent on top of the motor as thats where most of the smoke seems to be coming from. thanks for any help.
